Cannot connect to WiFi using 3B+

Using a SD card with the 2.2 Beta 7 image, I set up wifi and initialized on the 3B+ and after I reboot I get the following error message: NetworkManager-wait-online.service failed to start and the pi reverts to the hotspot. Putting same SD card into my previous DigiPi machine, a Zero 2W, the WiFi is connected to my home network just fine. On the 3B+ I am using a 5-inch DSI screen and on the Zero the old 1.3 inch TFT if that makes any difference.

Hi Gary - can you genuinely confirm it's a 3B+, emphasis on the +?

Clicking SysInfo when in hotspot mode will give you the complete
Pi model name.

I don't have any other ideas just yet.  2.5Ghz wifi, if zero2w works,
interference on the Pi3B+?  on a mylar bag?   phone in same room?

Craig,

Definitely a 3B+, says so on the board. It is attached to the back of the dsi display. Could that cause interference? Also a 2.4GHz access point is set for wifi connect.

I removed the 3B+ from the DSI display and now it works. So display is causing interference or blocking the signal.

I switched to the 5GHz WiFi and now it works when attached to the DSI display

I got the iUoyoMon 4.3 inch touchscreen, I think you recommended it previously
