Hello everyone,

is there anyone who has a street legal Powerfab 125WT?
So that you can attach the excavator to a car as a trailer on the road.
I'm having trouble convincing the German authorities of this. A copy of papers would certainly be very helpful.

Hi Harry

I think they fall under the same rules as a trailer. For example gross weight/mass if over 750 KG's  it would need brakes. When I tow mine I fit a separate lighting board to the bucket.

Regards Bob

Hello Bob,
Yes, it is about approval as a trailer.
That's the problem in Germany.
In order to be able to move the excavator as a trailer on the road behind a car, the excavator must be approved as a trailer.
For this they either want to have a comparable document of an already registered trailer or certificates of the welding seams and materials. Of course, what about the certificates will no longer work if the Powerfab company no longer exists.

If you move your excavator as a trailer on the road, does it have such an approval? or is this not required in your country? Where do you live?

Greeting Harry

I think it comes under grandad rights here.   All trailers should have a weight plate now, plenty are so old they don't, but you can DIY one.

There is plenty of manufacturers promotional material indicating it can be towed in the UK.  Basically trailers for a long while were not regulated or regulated very lightly, it's only very recently it's been made more stringent.
