How to reinstall Freelancer, Mod-Manager, FL-Add-On-1.6, SDK, etc.

1.0 Preparation:
1.1 Go to My Docs, My Games, make a back up copy of the entire
Freelancer directory. You can put it in My Games, it just needs to
have a different name. I suggest putting the date in the name like
yyyymmdd so you know when the backup was created.
1.2 Go to Start, programs, microsoft games, freelancer, examine my
account id. You can highlight the number with the mouse and do a
copy. Then paste it into a notepad file and save to your C drive in a
safe place you will -never- loose, and label something like "PC-
NAME_freelancer_multiplayer_id.yyyymmdd.txt" yyyymmdd= year month
day.
1.3 Be really paranoid, and print off a copy of the id number. With
out this all multilayer characters will be unaccessible. No server
admin will likely be able to help you, the ones on the server are a
combination of your ID and the servers ID.
1.4 Did you save the ID?

** -- !! Do not uninstall till you have the ID saved !! -- **

2.0 Uninstall these:
2.1 FL-Add-On 1.5, or whatever version you have.
2.2 FL-Mod-Manager, don't worry about the backup files, your going to
reinstall the entire game anyway.
2.3 Freelancer and all saved games
2.4 Run PC-Tools Registry Mechanic (or some other automated registry
cleaner for expired and old information for uninstalled programs)
Freelancer uninstall won't clean up completely. An automated registry
cleaner and PC optimizer program is likely going to cost you about $20
to $30, but it's worth every penny. DO NOT TRY TO EDIT THE REGISTRY
DIRECTLY, UNLESS YOU --REALLY-- KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. If you really
do know what your doing, you likely already have an automated registry
cleaner, as you know they are just cool!!
2.5 Reboot.

3.0 Install, in this order:
3.1 Freelancer.
3.2 Start Freelancer, open up multi-player, when the new id number
shows up, backspace it out, and type in your ID number you saved. I
suggest checking the number for typos at every hyphen. Be absolutely
sure you type it correctly. The only way to renter it after you click
create it, is to uninstall, and reinstall freelancer.
3.3 Sure that ID is correct? If so, click create.
3.4 Go to one of the servers you like, verify your characters show up
in the list. If yes, your ok, exit FL go to next step. If not, you
probably entered the ID wrong. Start over.
3.5 Install FL patch 1.1
3.6 Install SDK 1.3 or better.
3.7 Copy in the Freelancer.exe for no cd in the drive to Freelancer/
exe directory.
3.8 Install Module Manager
3.9 Install FL_add_on 1.6 or better (if a better one is available)
3.10 Reboot.

4.0 Happy Flying.

NOTE: FLU-Addon-1.6 will ONLY worth with Mod-Manger-1.3.

Suggested list:
o SDK 1.3 auto-install exe version
o Module Manager 1.3
o FLU-Add-on-1.6

And again, never start an uninstall, fix, or adding/removing anything
to/from Freelancer with out first saving, recording, or printing off
your Freelancer multiuser ID number(s) (some folks use more than
one) !!!
