Iinstalled the latest version of wc3270 on my windows 11 for my work purpose, but while opening it, I'm not getting the appropriate interface. It's just opening a command window. Can anyone share the solution for this?

You can also click on the 'Session Wizard' shortcut to start the Session Wizard, which lets you define all of the parameters for a session -- host name, port, screen size, etc. -- and then create a shortcut for that host session on your desktop. Click on the new shortcut and you will get a window connected to your host.

I have tried with the command "open my_host_IPadress" but it's throwing an error " No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Disconnected." If you can help me with this.

wc3270 is developed by Paul Mattes and is used by 8 users of Software Informer. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 3.3 and 3.4. The names of program executable files are conhost.exe, wc3270.exe. The product will soon be reviewed by our informers.

The above list is neither an endorsement of those products nor a recommendation to use them. If wish to share your experience with a different telnet and/or tn3270 application, please post that experience to the Hercules-390 discussion group. Other telnet client applications that comply with the following RFCs should work.

x3270 / c3270 / wc3270 The x3270 family of tn3270 applications are available without charge from x3270.bgp.nu. RPM's exist for many Linux distributions that use Redhat Package Manager files; check here for a list. It is also packaged for Debian and Ubuntu, and the .deb packages can often be used with other Debian-based Linux distributions. They are licensed under the BSD license as shown on the x3270 license page.

The packaged installation files available for Linux distributions are several minor releases older than the current stable release. You may wish to build x3270 from source even when an installation package exists for your Linux distribution. Build instructions for a variety of environments are in the Documentation - Miscelaneous page of the x3270 web site.

Tn3270 for the Macintosh is available without charge from Brown University at According to the web site as of May, 2016, the current version of this tn3270 application can be used with OS X 10.3.9 "Panther" through OS X 10.9 "Mavericks" on POWER PC and Intel-based systems.

Vista tn3270 is a Windows application written and maintained by Tom Brennan, and is used by members of the Hercules community. You can learn more about it at Tom Brennan Software. The screenshots are worth a look.

ZOC Terminal, available for Windows and Macintosh, is offered by Emtec Innovative Software and is used by members of the Hercules community. You can learn more about it at the ZOC Terminal web site. The screenshots are worth a look.

PuTTY source and Windows builds are available without charge and can be obtained from putty.org. RPM's exist for many Linux distributions that use Redhat Package Manager files; check here for a list. It is also packaged for Debian and Ubuntu, and the .deb packages can often be used on other linux distributions based on Debian. It is distributed under the MIT license, as shown on PuTTY's license page.

Other options may be set as you wish. Because mainframes that used printer-keyboards used continuous forms, and "scrolling back" through the console log meant thumbing through a stack of continuous forms paper, you may wish to set the size of the window and the lines of scroll back on the Windows page to accomodate your preferences.

The Telnet client included with Windows is known to have been used successfully with Hercules Version 4. The telnet clients included with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 appear to all be the same program, so the you should be able to set up a connection using the information below. Please post any difficulties to the Hercules-390 discussion group, noting the symptoms, Windows version and error messages.

One settings change is needed to use the Windows Telnet client with Hercules Version 4: 'set localecho'. The defaults for the remaining settings should work. Refer to the sample session below:

Configuring Multiple Target Addresses The PVWA can be configured to display multiple target addresses for users to select from when they create a request or connect to a remote machine transparently. For details, see Multiple target addresses.

Users can configure a PSM-RDP connection component to start the connection by launching a dedicated application on the target machine. When this dedicated application is closed, the RDP session is closed as well.

Make sure you have the required number of RDS CALs to enable you to access the RDS server. For more information, refer to the Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services) License section in the Privileged Access Security Installation Guide.

The following example shows the list of applications which are configured for RDP connections that are made with the selected account, and which will be launched automatically if used to establish the connection.

If you are working with the RemoteApp UX and you have enabled session video recording, PSM performance is affected by the client machine's resolution. This means as the number of screens on the client machines increases, PSM can support fewer concurrent sessions.

In the System Configuration page, in the Component Settings section, click Options, then select Connection Components; the connection component parameters that define target addresses are displayed in the properties list.

In the list of properties, specify a new ID that reflects the purpose of the connection. This ID will be displayed in the drop-down list of available connections in the Accounts Details page and must be self-explanatory.

The following example shows the configuration for a connection component that will start the task manager on the remote machine when the connection is made. This connection component specifies the full path of the task manager executable.

To specify a working directory for the selected application, usually required to ensure the correct resolution of any relative file names, create another new Client Specific parameter and specify the following:

The full path of the working directory for the program specified in the StartProgram parameter. If this property is not specified, the default working directory will be used. The default working directory is C:\Users\.

Expand UI & Workflows, and right-click Connection Components, then from the pop-up menu select Add Connection Component; a new connection component is added to the current list of connection components that are configured for this platform.

The Vault administrator can configure a list of addresses of remote machines to which a domain account can be used to connect. When a user tries to connect with this account, the list of addresses is displayed and the user can choose an address from the list. The Vault administrator determines whether the user is only allowed to connect to machines that are in the list of addresses or if they are allowed to connect to other machines as well.

This capability can prevent the ability to use the account to connect to machines which are not in the list through PSM, PSMP or with a transparent connection through the PVWA. It will not prevent access to machines in the domain by other means and therefore should not be used for access control to servers. It is recommended to configure and set appropriate access on the target machines through external controls such as firewalls, domain separation and more.

To enable end users to connect with this account to addresses that are not in the preconfigured list of addresses, select Allow User Connections to Other Machines. The end user will see the list of addresses when trying to connect with this account, but will be able to connect to other addresses as well.

You can configure connection history to target machines by customizing connection component settings for PSM sessions. You can either use the predefined settings or customize them to meet your specific requirements.

For scenarios where you would like to access multiple targets using the same account, without using a domain account, you can configure the PVWA to display multiple target addresses for users to select from when they create a request or connect to a remote machine transparently.

Select the platform that will manage accounts used to access the remote machines that will be displayed in the multiple targets list, then click Edit; the settings page for the selected platform appears.

Users can connect to remote SSH devices through the PSM using X-Forwarding, in addition to using SSH protocol. As with all PSM connections, users do not need to know the privileged password or key content, and the entire session can be recorded for auditing.

In the System Configuration page, click Options to display the Web Access Options parameters, then select Connection Components; the connection component parameters that define target addresses are displayed in the properties list.

To specify an option that creates files on the file system, make sure that the user running the PSM connection has permissions for the specified folder. For example, a command that creates a new file.

To run a command that manages the session file, specify the full path of the session file. In addition, do not specify the hostnames in the session file as the PSM server uses the hostname specified in the managed account.
