As of October 2017 this emoji set has been discontinued. Messenger for iOS now uses native Apple emojis, and Messenger for Android and web uses the Facebook emoji set. See also: ? Crescent Moon for Messenger Dark Mode.

Facebook emojis appear for users of the Facebook website, Facebook Android app, Messenger for web, and Messenger for Android. Facebook apps for iOS use native emojis for their respective platform instead of Facebook's own emoji images.

I recently uninstalled the Messenger app, because it was down for a while and after I received news that the problem's been fixed, it still didn't work on my phone. After installing it again, a lot of emojis have gone missing and I only have what seems to be the basic one's. I had this problem a few months ago as well, but was able to google and fix it. Sadly, I don't remember how I did it and I can't find the source either. Does anyone know how I can get the emojis back? Because just before uninstalling, I had them.

I'm building a Facebook messenger bot in Python. And everything works fine. But if I send emojis as text from Facebook chat to API, then it goes wrong. This is an example when I send emojis from Facebook.

So the received_message = message['message']['text']. What I want is whenever I send a (emoji) non text message from Facebook, I can scan and encode it before I send it to my API. I have read documents before asking this question but most of them are given emojis from user and not all a scanner and encode any emojis (if I miss something, please correct me because i'm a newbie). Tell me if I need to update my question.

When i press the emoji button on my iphone 14 pro (iOS 16.6) keyboard I can't scroll through them because the window immediately closes. I reinstalled messenger and it fixes the issue but as soon as you press the emoji/sticker button on the messenger app, it causes the problem to occur again. Emojis work normally in other apps, it's just the messenger issue.

Facebook is replacing the custom Messenger emoji set with the platform-wide Facebook emoji set for all users of Messenger on Android and the web. iOS users will no longer have custom emoji designs at all, and will go back to seeing Apple's native emoji set.

"At this time, we've decided to end our support of the Messenger emoji set to focus our attention on other features that help people express themselves and make the Messenger experience fun and engaging."

First introduced 15 months ago, Messenger's own emoji designs were at that stage ahead of the standard Facebook emoji set and introduced some diversity to the default gender choices. At the time of the Messenger announcement, Facebook said:

The two have co-existed for the past year, and now the latter is taking over in Messenger[1] where the former left off. No more instances where a single browser window can contain completely different emoji designs in a Facebook post vs a Facebook message.

It has been a confusing ride for end-users, wondering why one company would have two distinct emoji sets. Streamlining this to a single "company" design does make some sense, though users may be split on which they would prefer.

With five billion emojis sent on Messenger daily, these kinds of changes have wide reach. As with most Facebook updates, this rollout will come to different users at different times over the coming weeks and/or months.

It should be noted that Facebook's emoji set is more current than iOS at present. This could result in Android users sending newer emojis not supported on iPhone or iPad. That should be recitifed when Apple releases an emoji update for iOS by the end of 2017.

Today Google has officially unveiled its full-color designs for Unicode's latest approved emojis, which include a phoenix, a lime, smileys shaking their heads up and down, and a series of direction-specifying people emojis.

Samsung has begun rolling out the latest version of its Android software layer, One UI 6.0. This update introduces a brand new visual style for the vast majority of Samsung's emoji designs, while also debuting support for Unicode's new 2023 emoji recommendations.

Now it seems that the company is hoping people will use the thumbs up and down emojis as more of a way to vote on something, rather than to show their displeasure with someone's post. Of course, there's no stopping people from using the thumbs down or dislike button for any reason they choose.

Messenger has added a new search bar for emojis to let you easily look for the most appropriate reaction for your conversations. The search bar appears in the reaction picker when you long-press a chat in Messenger and then tap on the "+" sign. The Space Jam chat theme features Bugs Bunny in the background and a ball as the default chat emoji. The new experience is also available in Instagram's Direct Messages. While the latest features are minor changes, they nevertheless add improvements to your overall messaging experience.

\"Now, using Messenger emojis, you'll see a female police officer, runner, pedestrian, surfer and swimmer for the very first time, and we'll keep rolling these out,\" Facebook's Messenger team said in a statement.

The new emoji, which will begin rolling out on Thursday, will also be consistent for users, regardless of whether they're accessing Messenger via Android, iOS or on the internet. Previously, some emoji would show up while others would be inconsistent across platforms, \"which means sometimes the emoji you wanted to send wasn't the one that showed up,\" Facebook's team noted.

Along with the diverse emoji, Facebook is also debuting 1,500 other newly designed Messenger emoji. They're making it easy to find the right character with a new emoji picker to the left of the composer that lets users toggle between the regular text keyboard and the emoji one.
