Iwould like to inform you that you can install Acrobat on two machines using one license, however, you can only use one of those machines at a time. If you still want to deactivate please follow the below procedure to deactivate your license on current computer :

I couldn't find the deactivate link, and in the meantime I have uninstalled the software from my device with a view of using the license on a second device. But I'm still being asked to deactivate from another device. Can anyone assist please? Thanks!

Adobe makes it impossible to contact them regarding an activation reset. Both their online chat and their phone deny you any support at all even though they are preventing me from using the product I paid for. My product is no longer installed on another computer, but because I didn't go through their "deactivate" menu (I had no idea it was even there) now I am left with product I paid for and cannot use.

Brother, I've had the same exact issue litteraly just recently. I lost access to the computeres I had previously activated on it it gave me an activation max error. EVEN after deactivating on an old computer I found somehow, it STILL said my activation count was maxed out. I asked support too and they are so useless, they have told me they cannot reset the activation count and try to get me to buy their subscription model. They keep telling me the product is "old," but that is irrelevant, I paid for a software that I can use if I wish, until I die. I have acrobat standard X, and unforunately, it DOES seem like when you have the license, it is good for the FIRST two computers you activate on eternally. And if you deactivate on it, it is impossible to reactivate on the same computer. The only solution is that I've been forced to do was buy a CD with a key on ebay for like $50, and use that key on my computer very wisely. I will never purchase their subscription model especially after how worthless their support is. This is just madness.

I had to replace my motherboard and I need to re-install the OS. I have registered Acrobat 8 Pro and it was activated, but since a recent update the deactivate button is greyed out. I have tried the repair function and tried to re-register but it...

I am having the same issue with Adobe Acrobat 9. I have confirmed my serial number is not a volume license version. I have left the program open for about an hour now and the deactivate remains greyed-out.

When i log into my adobe account and request support, im told my account doesnt qualify for support anymore and if i called i would be charged 40$, so this sucks. I am unable to deactivate and re-activate on a different machine, unless im doing something wrong, does anyone know anything? I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, this worked for me. I was originally opening it, running as administrator, etc. but would always close it after a few mins. I left it open for 20 mins and came back and Deactivate was no longer grayed out, and I was able to deactivate just fine.

Also, when trying to reinstall on a 64 bit server 2008 r2 vm I came across a problem where the install was looking for a AdobePDF.dll for 64 bit but you will have to manually extract that file from the Data1.cab and put in the designated install dir. Read here for more details from Adobe Adobe Creative Suite archive

Hello, I have recently had to switch to a new laptop at work. The IT person did transfer programs, files etc. Acrobat was a bit tricky as he had to look around to find an installer as apparently this is not supported anymore. Anyway he did deactivate the version on the old laptop (not sure if this was done prior to trying installing on the new machine or after). Anyway, he managed to install this on the new machine however everytime I open it, it says that the serial number is already in use by the maximum allowed computers and I need to deactivate another computer within 30 day. I take the 30 days is what I have left for using Acrobat on this machine with this (not so friendly) pop-up. Any idea on how to fix this? Of course, the serial number I'm using is valid and it is the same that was used on the old maching when the company purchased the software.

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, you are getting the error message that the serial number is already in use by the maximum allowed computers and I need to deactivate another computer.

Uninstalling the app from a computer does not necessarily deactivate its license. If you uninstalled your app and are getting a message that you've exceeded your activation limit, try reinstalling the app on the old computer. Then, follow the steps below to deactivate the app on the old computer and activate it on your new one.

I got new computer. I want to deactive license on old computer and reactive on new computer. Why the heck don't they make it easier? Made the mistake, I guess, of uninstalling app on my old computer. Now can't go any further. Please help. It shouldn't take 2 hours to do this little chore.

Sign into your account on adobe.com. Click to manage your plan. On the right side, it shows what computer you have your programs 'activated' on. Click on link to deactivate your computer, which ever it is that you want to deactivate.

I got fed up with customer support not responding and sending me multiple open case actions. I finally got a program for OpenOffice for Mac, and some extra software they had and will install it. I'm tired of all this run around with the expensive Adobe software. I suggest you try it also. It is free.Apache OpenOffice - Official Download

WiseTires, is that applicable to permanent licenses? I had thought this an option only for subscriptions. If this is the case it could have saved effort for countless visitors to these forums over the years.

I'm not sure, but I also have the problem where after I deactivated one of my computers and uninstalled it on my laptop, it won't let me download and reactivate a new computer with the same subscription. I've been working with Adobe tech for days trying to get them to let me download the program. They have tried all sorts of stuff (clearing up old adobe installs, caches, etc and still they cannot get the subscription to load. I've even copied the .dmg file from my other mac and tried to reload it, and it won't let me. Gosh these programs are too complicated and why oh why can't they just have a easy download?

Through a partnership with Adobe, Clemson is licensed for the complete Adobe Creative Cloud - a suite of software that includes titles focused around photography, video, audio and design. Adobe Creative Cloud is available to all students, faculty, and staff. Shared Device License (SDL) installs are available for University-owned equipment. These installs are not tied to an individual user. For personal and student machines, named licenses are available but these may be activated on no more than two computers at a time.

(1) If you have access to the old computer then the solution is simple. You simply need to open the Creative Cloud app, click the circle in the top right, and then click the Sign Out button. This will deactivate your personal subscription on the computer allowing you to install and use the software on another device. This process allows you to install the software on several computers, but only have 2 activated at a time.

(2) If you do not have access to the old computer for some reason, you are still able to deactivate the old computer. To do this you will need to visit www.adobe.com and sign in with your Adobe account. Click on Help & Support, Manage my account. Click on Plans and payment drop down at the top of the screen. Click on Activated devices. From there you have the option to sign yourself out of all other computers or devices. Once you have one or zero devices, you will be able to use Creative Cloud on another device.

Once you have deactivated other devices, you may need to Retry on the new device if you got an error message similar to this.
