Help for the installation of the newest version of PDFGetX3

Hi, All,

I am new to this program and also new to Python. I just got the newest version PDFgetX3 from Nouvant. It is a zipped file (diffpy.pdfgetx-1.1-py2.7), which contains only 3 text files (AUTHORS, LICENSENOTICE, README) and 4 folders (diffpy/, doc/, EGG-INFO/, tables/). It looks different from the installation instruction in the manual. I don't know how to install the program. Can anybody help me?

Hi Fuxiang,

Hi Fuxiang,

This actually sounds right, the egg distribution file is indeed in
a zip format. There is however no need to extract it, just process
it with easy_install, ie, run

easy_install diffpy.pdfgetx-1.1-py2.7.egg

You may need to rename the package file from .zip to .egg in case
some overtly smart web-browser insisted on a .zip extension.

I hope this helps, let me know if there are still problems
with the installation.

Dear Pavol,

Thank you very much for the help. I have tried to run the command: easy_install diffpy.pdfgetx-1.1-py2.7.egg. The computer said: "Couldn't find index page for 'diffpy.pdfgetx-1.1-py2.7.egg'

Should I copy the file to a specific folder or Python foler.

Hi Fuxiang,

The egg file needs to be present in the directory where you
execute the easy_install command. Either copy the egg file
to that location or use "cd" in the terminal (command window)
to navigate to the directory that has the egg file. Another
option is to provide a full path to the egg file, for example

easy_install /Users/pjuhas/Downloads/diffpy.pdfgetx-1.1-py2.7.egg
