Youmight be able to copy and paste with the right-click menu, but for security reasons, most browsers don't allow web apps (like Docs, Sheets, and Slides) to use your computer's clipboard through menus.

To access the previous items you've copied on a Windows computer, simply press and hold the WIN (Windows) key, and then V. There, you will see a list of items you have copied since you turned on your PC.

Has anyone successfully downloaded Google Chrome apps (or extensions or whatever they are called) from another browser and then installed them on Chrome? Google Web Store and Google Play are blocked where I work, and I just want to install Adblock.

It should be fairly obvious which hash corresponds to which extension upon inspection, but you can often find a readme.txt, or a messages.json file in a _locales sudfolder, from which you can identify the extension. On my local system the hash for Adblock was cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb (this is probably globally unique, but just check), and then there were versioned subfolders. Choosing the most recent version directory should be fine.

Also, if your company blocks the extension store to avoid its employees installing extensions, you should be aware of that circumventing such policies might not be appreciated. The better choice for your future employment might be to talk to the department responsible for the block.

So after painstakingly packing, air dropping the zipped folder, and unpacking some test extensions to see if the process works (which it did), I went to the extension store to just download a really simple extension that decided I wanted, and when I clicked "Add to Chrome" a pop-up asked if I wanted to just "Sync" my extensions across my accounts. So I clicked yes, and a few seconds later all my extensions were populated on my new computer's Chrome browser. Boom. So I'd recommend trying this route first for anyone who is wanting a quick fix.

This extension works pretty well, creates an html page list of all extension and even sorts them into enabled and disabled:Export links of all extensions. You then just have to click through them to install, but I didn't find a way to bulk import using the copy into directory method anyway, I think you still had to click multiple times to load unpacked. There should really be a Chrome version of this: OPIE Firefox Extension which would pack up and export/import all manor of profile parts.

The problem with the accepted answer is that it will only work on the same computer (e.g. copying extension files from one Chrome Person/profile to another). When you do this onto a different PC, it won't work.

If you're like me, where you don't want to sync anything to a Google account and you can't be bothered to install the extensions manually, I wrote this script to automate that process (especially useful if you use tons of different personas in the same Chrome browser or across different machines):

Printer copied well up to a couple months ago. I only use 8x11 paper in paper tray, but message comes up when I want to copy saying "cannot use 5x8 paper...press help (?) to see paper sizes to use." I do not have 5x8 paper in the tray! I have tried HP Print & Scan Doctor and HP customer support for information, but none address this problem. The settings do not allow a change of paper size that I can see.

Turn on the printer.

Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.

Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

Wait at least 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.

Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.

Try to copy.

Sorry Mr. Robot, but my HP Envy 7645 all-in-one printer screen is entirely different from your sample. I have icons in a row at the bottom for email, Wi-Fi, IP address, Environmental settings, Fax status, and Ink levels. If I press the return arrow once, it disappears, and is impossible to press 4 times in a row, so I can't get past that. Also have no "star" settings onscreen to touch, nor a Touch Support Menu, Reset Menu, or Semi-Full Reset. The only settings ("star" icons) are with Email, Wi-Fi, and IP address, none of which concern copying or paper size.

MY printer F4185 prints from PC , But i cant make copies as my Scan / Paper Type buttons not responding & E msg with light blinking on colour & black , both copy buttons r also not respondind ,Only Black Cartridge is working , without colour cartidge inserted , does not print if colour cartidge inserted

I have spent a lot of time to configure my laptop (128 GB SSD, 60 GB used), because I installed MATLAB, LaTeX, Mathematica and some simulation software. I don't want repeat configure/install these things on another laptop, if I could copy the entire SSD to another laptop's SSD.

I found older threads How to copy my Ubuntu system (laptop) to another laptop ? but they recommend CloneZilla, it has limits for system package size (not more than 4GB), maybe there is a better solution?

For this sort of thing, it helps a lot if you have a drive dock: a USB device that can hold your extra SSD outside your laptop. I will concentrate on such an arrangement. I will also assume you're comfortable with doing things from the command line. I will mostly use software that is installed by default.

I would run off of installation media, like the DVD containing your version of Ubuntu, and choose "try Ubuntu" so you are not running from the drive you're going to be copying. Bring up a terminal (click the desktop and type Ctrl-AltT). Become the superuser (sudo -i and use your user password).

the command df -h will give you a human-readable list of the partitions you have. You'll probably find everything on your SSD is listed as /dev/sda. So /dev/sda will be the source for everything you want to copy.

and I would expect to see at least /dev/sdb, and perhaps some numbered partitions. If so all is well, except you should convince yourself that you really want to destroy all those /dev/sdb partitions. If you only have /dev/sdb itself, there are no partitions.

bs= gives a block size, which here is about 100K. The default would be just 512 bytes and would be VERY slow. You want it to be a multiple of 1024 at the very least. Because of the zeroes, this is a multiple of 4096.

The results will work, but it's a little bit weird because the UUIDs of all of the partitions are also copied. What's weird about it is that "UUID" stands for Universally Unique ID, and they are no longer unique. This can be fixed, but it's probably best for that to be in a separate question. Until it has been fixed, do not attempt to use the two drives in the same machine for anything at all because the kernel will likely get confused about which partition is which. Take the copy out of the dock as soon as the copy has finished.

If the destination drive is larger than the one in your laptop and the laptop drive has an old MSDOS partition table, you can still use this technique, but there will be some unallocated space at the end of the drive.

Occasionally, when I am working on one and someone else is working on another, and we are both copying and pasting content on our own projects, we end up with the other person's content on our computer.

e.g. Person A copies "Hello," while Person B copies "Goodbye," each on their respective computer. However, when Person A goes to paste, instead of "Hello" a small rectangular notification appears in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen that says, approximately (it is not there long enough for me to capture it), "copying from Person B's computer" and "Goodbye" is pasted, instead.

We are signed into all computers under the same apple ID, and that cannot be changed. However, cool as this feature is / could be, we have not once meant to use it, and it quickly becomes frustrating when it disrupts both individuals' work.

Could someone explain how to turn off this copy-paste between computers? or point me to the appropriate documentation, so we know how to control it? If the only option is to turn off the feature, that is fine; optimally, we would like to learn how we can use it, when we want to (as I'm sure we couldn't get it to happen reliably, if we wanted to make use of it!).

If you believe this would be better posted in a different community, please take a moment to reply with it's name: I am trying to familiarize myself with these communities, but the directory is rather overwhelming, at first and it is not clear to me where the best place to post it would be.

I like and make use of the other handoff features, what I dislike about the copy-paste is that you have no control over it (e.g. handoff doesn't force me to view the same webpages on my iPad and desktop, nor does it force me to continue an email on desktop, if started on the laptop).

Small business. I use all of them as personal computers, as well. In this case, my office manager only uses the laptop to run certain programs and complete certain tasks. Unfortunately, it really isn't an option at this point, as many applications etc. are registered to my name.

Thought this would have it all, but they don't mention anything about turning it off, unfortunately (except for by not meeting the requirements -- e.g. bluetooth, wifi network, same apple ID -- but those are not elements we can change *just* to deactivate this feature).
