Ihave never even touched the proxy settings in teamviewer ever. I have no programs that should be interfering with my network/port settings AT ALL aside from teamviewer. Haven't had a problem for years until lunch today, in which I stopped being able to access the device I usually connect to.
Teamviewer is the only program on my main PC that is having trouble with connections. I checked on the device (PC I use as a server on the other side of the house) and it is connecting to teamviewer without any errors or problems.
Hello @RichHelp
Welcome to our Community and thank you for your first post! ?️
What user, mLipok has posted above is a great go-to set of troubleshooting steps. I want to add, is related to checking your firewall.
As the key thing with your issue is that it is happening when connected to a specific network, I suggest performing port forwarding with that router using the information provided in the Knowledge Base article pasted below.
-us/global/support/knowledge-base/teamviewer-classic/troubleshooting/ports-used-by-teamviewer/
Sometimes your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may be able to help if the router being used is being provided by that ISP.
Using Teamviewer's VPN, you only get a direct connection between your current computer and the computer running Teamviewer (or a "private" network between them I could say). So, I believe you don't actually have access to your local network.
The only way you could have access to the internet on your network is through a proxy. The computer, inside your network, would receive requests over Teamviewer's VPN network and act as a proxy to your local network.
PS.: You can setup a proxy server for the whole computer, using Internet Settings (IExplorer and Chrome), but Mozilla Firefox supports a "private" configuration, allowing you to surf the web via proxy only inside Firefox.
At first I thought you got things mixed up. I found out that there is a separate "teamviewer VPN" module, but I don't know how to troubleshoot that.Normally Teamviewer makes it possible to view and use someone elses desktop (sends video/audio output and mouse/keyboard input). A VPN is a tunnel from one network to another.
On your remote location you would install a VPN client which connects to the VPN server on your home computer. Your homecomputer would appear just another computer in your LAN, and by doing this you evade prying eyes and firewall rules. It is only a connection.
If you want to send files to another computer you have to configure another protocol to do so (for example standard windows printer/file sharing). If you want to use it as some kind of anonymizing proxy you should make sure your traffic is routed correctly.
In either case first make sure you really can ping the other computer through the VPN (ping the internal IP of your homepc from the remote location). Most of the times firewalls on routers/modems are causing problems. Are you using Windows 7 on both locations? Can you reach an external site through your homepc? Try tracepath/traceroute/tracert the external site. Did you configure routing? If not you it could be as easy as opening the Network Connections window, select both connections while holding Ctrl and click Bridge Connections.
I'm recently getting this message when i try to connect to another computer on TV "Either your partner isn't connected to the internet or your partner's TeamViewer isn't running yet."... any suggestions on how to fix this? I've been using TV for years with no issues until now.
As the message shows that: Either your partner isn't connected to the internet or your partner's TeamViewer isn't running yet. Can you kindly check for the internet connection and TeamViewer is working fine for remote connections please.
In order to assist you with a possible solution, can you kindly provide more information on the connection settings please. On the other hand, can you kindly check the internet ports on both sides of connection please, and make sure that the ports are available and open.
Any additional movement on this issue? I've been dealing with the same issue where it'll work one minute then the next it'll kick me off for a period of time then allow me back in. There does not seem to be any consistent pattern. I'm not sure what is causing the issue.
I had to get a new computer and was trying to get TV up and running. From my new computer I can see all my other ones, but from this is the only one I can not see my new computer. I can use TV to go to another computer and I can see all of them so I know the internet is on and it is working. Any suggestions on how to get this machine to see my new one. Thanks
I have this issue found on yesterday. It was running prefect till last Friday. When I was tried to remote my office PC. It was just connecting.......but not success. Today, when I was back to office, it was still not working. But, when I connected my PC via WiFi, everthing was working properly. However, this was not working when I used back the complany wire network (this netwrok could access to internet when using web browser). Anything got wrong?
hope you are sorted with this issue. In my case the internet connection at the other end is establised because my colleagues are able to connect with their machines. so can you please help me out of this problem?
I use TV to connect to family & friends in Toronto, Canada from my location in L.A. The family friend just finished installing TV adn we are emailing each other every 5 minutes while trying to resolve, but I keep getting the msg that her side is not on the Internet when it obviously is. She uses ethernet connection while I am high speed WiFi.
I am getting this error after TeamViewer attempts to re-launch in elevated mode on the client when logging in with the optional WIndows admin credentials mode. It appears the TeamViewer never gets re-launched.
Eventually when a younger member of family was able to visit we found out that their partern id had changed - we have no idea why or when but once I used their new partner id I could connect - but when it was really needed during lockdown could not use
We have this issue with all our remote computers and can only be solved by restarting the computer. Defeats the purpose of remote working as we do not know when the restart may be required and someone needs to be present to do the restart.
I get exactly the same message. TV was working fine with a particular computer, used it often, then from one day to the other it stopped working an giving me that untrue message. Nothing changed on either computer. It still works the other way around. Reinstalled TV on both sides, no change.
anything besides the ports and connection settings which was never explained how to obtain them. The person the other computer shows that they are connected but then I try to connect to them, it says they are not connect or do not have their team view open. How does that make sense?
I have this issue too. I could've swore I setup everything properly at home. And on the road I get this same error as everyone else writing in. Internet definitely works at my house right now because if it didnt, I'd be getting alerts on my phone to tell me otherwise.
Hi, I have a Retina MacBook Pro 13" late 2013, running macOS Mojave 10.14.1. I have installed the latest version of TeamViewer on it but when I'm opening it, it keeps saying it's not ready, check your internet connection and is not showing me an ID or password. I have teamviewer enabled in the firewall. I have tried a computer restart and a reinstall of teamviewer but nothing helped...
I'm trying to connect my laptop (win7) to a tablet (win8.1) so I can use TeamViewer to remote control the tablet from the laptop. I can get the connection and remote the tablet in the house because they will link via the home wifi router which does have internet access and dchp to allocate IP addresses.
If I try to the same thing out in the field where there is zero internet and I'm only using the wifi adaptors on the laptop and tablet they won't connect even if I select Use Lan connections exclusively.
Thanks Pete, I was doing that and it was giving the devices the same IPs of 127.0.0.1 which is just a loop back IP of the local device so no good. However if you do connect the laptop to itself you get an awesome display reminencsent of the old top of the Pops graphics lol
I used to assign different static ip addresses on the same subnet... although they were all connected either wired or wirelessly to the same router The address range used for the static addresses was excluded from the DHCP pool .. All this was about 4 years ago now so memory might be playign tricks...
Thanks for the extra ideas I'll have a look at them this evening. Main reason for using Teamviewer is I already use it over the normal wifi/Internet, if there is a better alternative I'll look at them
I have a TP-Link MR-3040, which is a battery/usb powered mobile router, which has been flashed for using with an Android programme called DSLRController. This programme allows me to control the DSLR from an Android tablet wirelessly. The TP-link MR-3040 is also an Access Point (the lightbulb moment lol) which isn't affected by the custom firmware.
