Hi community,

During the night from Tuesday, July 5th to Wednesday, July 6th we will move the whole Diem project sites to a new server.**
Erik (4levels) did manage to get this server for our project and he will take care of the server movement.
Therefore please be aware that neither our website nor our community site will be available for probably a couple of hours in that time.
If there should be any issues with our sites on Wednesday we will take care of it as fast as possible.
If you find any please let us know on community site's forum (if available) or by sending a mail to our Google Group mailing list.

This also will be the starting point for some important project organization structure changes that will hopefully help users and developers to be better integrated in the project.
More on these changes will follow the next days.

Regards,
Thomas

Hi all,

last night I finished moving all but one Diem related projects to our new server.  The one not yet transferred is the Continuous Integration server Hudson.  I'm not too familiar with this and since Hudson is now Jenkins, I'll need some more time to investigate how to install and adapt Jenkins to run the Diem CI.

The new server is now running Apache2/mod_php instead of Nginx/FPM as running Redmine on Nginx requires a custom built.

I'm happy to have freed our production server from the extra load Diem can cause from time to time, and it feels good to have our core team members being able to maintain and administer this new dedicated VPS.

The only side effect for now is that Redmine is downgraded from version 1.1 to 1.05.  This had luckily no effect on the transition at all.

As Thomas already kindly asked, please report bugs / issues immediately here so we can follow up on them.

Cheers!

Stéphane

Thanks, Erik for your time and work on the server! Why did you have to downgrade Redmine?

Thomas

Hi all,

http://demo.diem-project.org now shows the Diem project site.  I'm still fine-tuning the demo to avoid abuse due to untrustworthy users..

The downgrade to Redmine1.05 is because I now used the Redmine version available through apt-get from the Ubuntu repositories.  By doing this I avoided the Ruby dependency hell I was facing.  I'm still investigating an upgrade though, but it seems like Redmine1.1 and 1.05 are not that different at all..

Thank you both for your supportive words!

Ciao

Hi Erik,

Did you check if there are maybe backports available? As far as I know there have been a couple of bugfixes in 1.1, but I might we wrong.

Hi Erik,

Can you value how long this will take approx.?
Just asking as I'll start with the Redmine plugins soon you're finished, so we don't work on the server at the same time.

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Everything is transferred already. Is Redmine1.05 instead of 1.1 a blocking issue? Sorry I didn't get this earlier..

Till soon!

Erik
