4. “Thand to bahut hai lekin ab humko bhi nahi lagti. Ab farak kya
hai, hum aur aap mey?” she giggles and then bursts into a loud laugh..
Looking at her new possession a warm piece of cloth, a basic need, a
symbol of dignity, a leveler !!
No charity, she has earned it. She is one of thousands of people who
earn clothing and other material with dignity as part of GOONJ’s
nationwide initiative Cloth for Work. From a repair of road to digging
a well, hundreds of such acts are making a vast pattern all over the
country. “Building a parallel economy” is how people are describing
it, where second hand material is turning into a powerful resource for
development!!
Do you wish to donate old clothes? You can contact Sion resident Mrs
Priti ben Shah at (
pr...@asiapowercom.com)
5. Based on suggestions by Matunga resident Rakesh Shah and Sion
resident Anuj Sheth and follow-ups with DCP Mr Nandkumar Chaugule ji
and then-DCP Mr Harish Baijal, Mumbai traffic police implemented the
no-right turn at Suman Nagar/ Priyadarshani junction. Ofcourse, there
was vigorous follow-up by civic activist Mr Vinod Malshe too.
Thanks and Regards,
