Hmmmm, weird/interesting.
Does this also happen when you open a fresh/clean project?
What happens when you create a new, empty project, add a stereo track and add 2 stereo FX-channels from that track?
But, now if I create a new FX track separately and go to my stereo track and select the Send from the drop down in the MixConsole or Left Side Zone it gets added de-activated. I then have to manually power it on.

Dear users, I have a problem activating nuendo 12. I activated it on 3 computers, but one of them is completely out of use. my question is how to transfer the license from that computer to the new one I want to use. grateful in advance, Zorke
I know i was able to keep my C11 License after upgrading to C12.
I already contacted support a week ago but havent got an answer yet. Maybe someone could tell me, if iam eligible for N11 at all.
Thx and best wishes
Almost certainly Support will refuse your request for a Nuendo 11 licence; that is what has happened in other similar cases reported on the forums. The rule with Steinberg activations is that you get the latest version at the time you activate, not the version you purchased. This means you activated as Nuendo 12 on Steinberg Licensing, not on Nuendo 11 on eLicenser with a grace period update to Nuendo 12 on Steinberg Licensing.
I recently had to reformat my machine, which had two non-upgradable eLicenser licenses on a soft eLicenser (Dorico Pro 3.5 and Backbone) as well as two on my USB eLicenser (Nuendo 11 and WaveLab Pro 11). I could see that there was no option on the eLicenser reactivation page on My Steinberg to reactivate the Dorico Pro and Backbone eLicenser licences, so I moved them to the USB eLicenser before reformatting. Had I not done so, I think I would have lost the Dorico Pro and Backbone eLicenser licences. The chances are that I will never need them, as I cannot see any reason to step back from Dorico Pro 4 or Backbone 1.5 to an earlier version. Nevertheless, it seemed best to preserve them just in case.
Short version -
The issue is - with significant numbers of daws deployed all over the world for different purposes every show, having the licenses on eLicensers and iLoks works well for us. Powering up a daw in the shop to transfer licenses is not effective with shop personnel, physically moving eLicensers and iLoks is effective.
Long version -
We have 9 Nuendo eLicensers, 6 PT-Ultimate iLoks, probably around 6 or so PT-Studio iLoks, and quite a few Video Sync (Slave) and audio plugin iLoks. At a guess without checking we have perhaps 25 daws in all different form factors - rack mount with triple-madi interfaces, laptop with Madi, NUC bolted to the back of a monitor, laptop with analog, etc. For interfaces we have triple-Madi MadiFX cards, triple-Madi HDMadi+HDX, MadiFace USB, UFX+, Focusrite analog, etc., plus BlackMagic capture cards.
F - Launching SAM on an activated computer, one license gives the option to Deactivate and the other license gives the option to Activate. What is a shop person supposed to do? They will Activate because it says so, which means that computer will have TWO SIMULTANEOUS activations, and if this moves forward they may even have all 10 simultaneously.
This is not a classroom - seemingly the intended market for the cli tools - where a teacher can monitor the students to prevent SAM misbehavior. These systems are deployed in studios, post houses, sound stages, production trucks - places where the operators are not prevented from doing problematic things.
I predict I will lose the following with this SAM implementation -
A - A show because the operator de-activated the system by accident and blamed the gear as they usually do.
B - A rental because the show was lost.
C - A long-term client because we supplied them with defective systems.
D - A lawsuit from the production company because we cost them money.
E - Multiplied by as many problematic operators that we come into contact with, which is a lot.
Were these licenses updates from a previous (eLicenser) version of Nuendo? If so, you need to redeem the Download Access Code in Steinberg Download Assistant while the corresponding eLicenser license is present.
Ben had the answer - using offline activation does not require the activated computer to be logged in which I did not know. After offline activation if you connect it to the internet and open SAM the license remains activated but not logged in.
In theory I could lodge a support request with Steinberg every time I de-activate a computer, but that will not work because it will take a long time to be available and also will look a bit suspicious.
Thanks to the Steinberg folks in this thread who assisted (and helped me to spend entirely too much time) figuring out how to manage this. The loss of eLicensing will be a pain for us but at least there may be a way forward.
SAM still needs some work as I noted above, but I can manage as it is.
For some reason, Steinberg Activation Manager cannot find a Nuendo 12 licence in your account. Make sure Steinberg Activation Manager is signed into the same Steinberg account that Steinberg Download Assistant was signed into when you activated Nuendo 12.
Long version (I tried for 8 months : OCCD test on drives and ram; change GC, reinstall windows 3 times (11 and 10) reinstall all nuendo / kontakt several times; chaged HD; used session and path names without special caracters and short; tried those sessions on my old computer; .. always the crash. Probably 20mail exchange with steinberg support, they say it's kontakt causing the problem and same exchange with NI (NI is still on it but I had to pause for holiday)
Let my colleagues know. If you can't get back to my colleagues, because after a certain time without reply from you, the request might have been closed, so if that's the case, let me know and we can work it out.
Hey @ngodzillaa2 I would recommend getting back to our support. I understand that you are desperate and I wish users out there can help you out, but I suspect it's a complicated issue, probably system related. Still, we'll follow this thread in case anyone with a similar issue reports it, so maybe we can find similarities that might help to find the source of the issue.
So the user experience can really help here maybe because it's soundtrack composers like me maybe something related to using big libraries and surround..; or specific to the audiobro library (although through the multiple tests I did I'm sure I did some that had no audiobro library)
Someone in audiobro forum says using 6.6.1 resolved his problem (same symptoms) So.. i'm tempted to reinstall 6.6.1 and update my template of doom .. But maybe giving you guys an opportunity to look at 6.7.1 on my sustem before doing so.
found 6.6.0 ... but I did some batch resave thinking it would optimise my template and now i'm doomed to use kontakt 6.7. Since my digital life started back in the 80's (with cubse 2.0 on atari !) I never had such a nightmare with a software. I'll use spitfire only for a while and will check on NI when they adress this seriously.
I'm going to try to install more RAM as audiobro support was concerned I was hitting of 95% of my 32Go RAM.. when loading projects or opening instruments (specially MSS library in 5.1). don't know what to try anymore. (I tried the asio guard I think.. maybe should try it more now that I read your message again)
In N3 I could solo a mono track (1 that contributes to the console mix that is looped back to Nuendo) and I could be monitoring through Nuendo (since the stereo track has the monitor button activated)
for the solo issue with the loop-backed mix, I thought I would try to invoke the solo defeat feature. But that does not work. I still cannot monitor through the stereo mix track. the solo defeat lets me see the signal, but I cannot hear the results.
So it would seem that solo defeat does not work the way the manual states.
set to manual has undesirable conditions. When I take the channel out of record I need to hear the mix I just recorded. In manual mode I would have to click off the monitor button (separately from the record button) every time I wanted to check a mix (that would be 1000 times per day).
I triple-checked its validation via activation manager. Of course the license is valid and has been properly activated on my system. Only Cubase 11 Pro seems to refuse to load it right from the application start. Why?
The included VST instruments have been patched to support Steinberg Licensing. Retrologue 2, Padshop 2, Halion Sonic 7, and Groove Agent SE 5 now all use the new preset browser introduced with Halion 7. To use your purchased expansions in Cubase 11, please download the latest versions of your plug-ins from the Steinberg Download Assistant.
So yes, all upgraded products will probably not work with eLicenser products. If you want to know more about that decision you should ask Steinberg. In my opinion it is a clear and valid strategy from Steinberg and I absolutely like the move away from the old dongle stuff.
@B.Minor I think you may need to download and install the latest version of HALion Sonic SE. The edition of HSSE that came with Cubase 11 will not work, but the newer version of HSSE will be able to play content licensed under the new system such as Pop Guitar 2.
