After browsing the available smart frames, I chose the Carver model with a charcoal frame. Unlike the Mason, Mason Luxe, or Smith frames that can stand in both portrait or landscape, Carver and the all-new Carver Luxe's 10-inch Full HD screen only sits in landscape orientation, but that doesn't mean your vertical shots will be left out of the mix, thanks to clever feature: Carver's Intelligent Photo Pairing feature will automatically pair two portrait-orientation shots and display them side-by-side in the frame.

Without the "in person" part happening this year, Aura was a savior. By choosing to ship the frame to the recipient (rather than to myself, which is also an option), I was able to do almost everything necessary to prepare the frame directly from the Aura website.

The real magic happens in the Aura mobile app, where I was able to easily select and add photos from my phone. From classic family beach shots I have stored on Google Photos to more recent photos still sitting in my phone's camera roll, the Aura app makes it effortlessly easy to upload photos to the frame. You can even email photos directly.

For my purposes there were countless images to choose from. Photos of the kids building sand castles on the beach. Photos of my siblings and I doing the very same thing years earlier. Action shots from the boardwalk amusement rides. Messy ice cream cone shots. Group selfies from the old school boardwalk photo booth. Pouring through the summertime photo archives was a delight, and I had a feeling that other family members would feel the same way seeing the images on their new Aura frame.

A few short days later, a box arrived at my brother's house in Massachusetts. Knowing that it was the surprise gift I had ordered, he called me on video chat so I could be there virtually while they unboxed their Aura frame. After a quick and painless setup process, the frame was powered on and cycling through photos documenting years of family fun at the Jersey shore.

The beauty of a gift like Aura is that the unboxing moment is just the beginning of the experience. With the frame in their hands and their parents added as contributors on the app, the entire family can add new photos and even interact with one another by commenting and liking photos from within the Aura app. And who knows? Maybe next summer the kids will upload their own photos to Aura right from the beach so they're there when they get home.

It's great having my photos pop up on the Apple TV, however, the majority of my albums are 'smart albums' which you do not see on the Apple TV. I feel this is an issue which has gone on long enough. While all the other albums are showing (fabulous), there has been an issue for some time with the smart albums. Please fix!

The problem is, that the Photos on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV) simply has no support for smart albums at all. Smart albums cannot be created and displayed in Photos for iOS. That is probably why iCloud does not sync them to iOS devices. For the time being create standard albums from your smart albums to see them on iOS devices.

But you are right - iCloud Photo Library would be much more versatile, if smart albums could be synced to iOS devices and iOS supported smart albums, key words, titles, description, metadata. All is necessary to be able to use and create smart albums. You may want to send feedback to Apple: Photos for iOS - Feedback - Apple

You may want to send a feature request to Apple and ask for smart albums to be available on an iPhone. It is really annoying. Most of my albums are smart albums, and I cannot see the most important part of my library structure on my iPhone. Photos for iOS and iPadOS - Feedback - Apple That is not really an iCloud syncing of the Photos Library, when our custom library structure is missing and only the photos and folders are synced.

But basing the smart albums on a keyword with the name of the smart album makes them visible in iOS 14 or iPadOS 14. For example, searching for the photos from my Smart Album "keyword is Bird" on the iPhone:

A Smart Album automatically gathers and displays photos in your library that meet criteria you specify. For example, you can create a Smart Album that automatically collects your favorite portrait photos.

Share and display photos and short videos from your smartphone wherever you are in the world with the 10.1" Smart Photo Frame. Smart and easy to use, the shared photos or video clips will appear within seconds along with your chosen caption and emoji.

I uploaded my photos from my camera for the first time using HP Mediasmart, and now I cannot get them into my normal photo file called, My Pictures. I normally use a windows program to upload to my computer, but thought I would try something new. Now my photos are deleted from my camera, and I cannot get them into my normal photo collection! There is no way to drag or right click or anything! How does this work?

When I am copying photos over from a job, I have a jobs folder that has sub folders organized alphabetically. These can also be named by Date or whatever YOU want. Inside each of those I have either folders with customers names, dates, locations or what ever the occasion.

You can organize a file system that suites you how ever you want. The idea is you know you have them there when you need them. No guessing. I dont recommend putting all photos into just one folder. That would be a nightmare to find them.

I was a pro photographer for many years. If you start using the Card Reader with the old fashioned Drag & Drop or Copy/Paste method, you will eliminate the type of problems you are having now. Unless of course your hard drive crashes.

I do not see any way to move my photos from it to my photo files on my computer. Surely I don't have to burn a cd every time I download photos to it and move them that way! I cannot right click images to copy or move or anything. I cannot drag them. I see no instructions on how to move them anywhere. This is a very odd program, which I used just as an experiement because it is on my computer and I thought it might be useful.

I will purchase a card reader adapter. If you are saying you can download right from there to My Pictures, I'm all for it. I have had trouble with Windows Live Photo Gallery, too, with the download process. Can you tell me more about this device?

I have never used a card reader, but I see here from a few folks that it is a good idea. I will be getting one. I was able to save my photos by creating a CD then moving them into my My Pictures folder. But I still haven't figured out how to move images from HP photosmart. I hate to abandon the program without conquering it, but I really don't need it anyway. I am trying to get away from Windows Lie Photo Gallery which is what I use to move photos from my camera to my computer. It saves the images in its own gallery, but they also show up in my My Pictures file, which is what I use to work with them. I just wish I could find a more direct way.

I wound up taking the memory chip out and plugging it into the computer and download that way now, even though it is not as organized as either the Windows program or the HP Media Smart as far as files go.

As far as editing, I bet you will go "argh" with me too, because I use a very simple, free online program called "Ribbet" which I just love! It does not organize my photos, just offers editing tools. It also saves my edited photos for future edits or even changes to edits I've already done, which most free programs don't offer. It used to be called "Picnik" until google+ ate that up and thinned it out, then absorbed what was left of it into Picassa.

My pictures were in folders under Pictures, My Pictures and I could click on a folder, open it and click on a photo and at the top of the screen it had EDIT, PRINT, etc. NOW, since my computer crashed and HP reloaded......, my pictures go into the Picture but at the top doesn't show EDIT. It goes into HP MEDIA SMART PHOTO, but I can't make the easy changes now, it's all automatic stuff, not custom like I want it. How do I just get the pictures into Picture folders and EDIT from the top column. Pictures are going into different places. ?????
