Second Copy is our award winning backup software. Designed for Windows 11 and backward compatible including Windows 7. It offers easy and powerful ways of making backups of your important files and folders.

Second Copy allows you to keep a backup of all your important files at a different location. Once you define the profiles indicating which files to copy, where to copy them, and when to copy them, Second Copy runs in the background. At the specified time, it compares the date and time stamp of the source and destination files, and it copies new and changed files. It also tracks the copying activities in a log file so that you can see which files were copied and if there were any errors.

On my computer, which I purchased from X-Force with XPlane 11 installed, states that there is a second copy of Xplane: I have two directories C://Xplane11 and c://xplane11. but here"s the rub, I can't find the second copy anywhere! It's not listed in the registry, no files but

the c:\\xplane11 sticks around even when I update XPlane. I use the C:\\Xplane11 directory. I called X-Force computers and they were down right rude, never really solved the issue even using team view to do a search. Does any one have any ideas as to how to rid my self of the this ghost second copy?

I have Two Copies of X-Plane on the Same PC (Two Different Drives), one as Primary Flight Sim - One Copy is Backup (always save a Backup of Previous Version before Updating to New version - otherwise there's no Going Back). And with these Two Copies - I never got a Warning (or Notification) like you Referenced:

We have a HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw printer in the office that Cancels Job for the second copy when a job like that is set. Seting the copies I want to be printed on 2 by the software, first copy is printed, but then a Job Canceled message shows up on the printer screen and the only option it offers is to cancel the current job, does not says anything about the memory.

When ordering a second copy of an ebook, one option is to add a new invoice line connected to an existing PO line as described in the presentation How to order a second copy of an e-book (suggested method)

That SEEMS to just be doing the same as a DoCmd.OpenForm

It causes the existing form to come to the fore. It doesn't load a second copy of the object.

Or have I missed something obvious ?

-Harry Chapin RE: Open a second copy of the same form. dRahme (TechnicalUser)11 Mar 05 21:27Hello, this might help.

AirCode :

Current Form - form1
Form for multiple copies: frmEmployees

Form1 Button Click()

if currentproject.allforms(frmEmployees).isloaded then
forms!frmEmployees.txt1.setfocus
end if

Then on the form you want another copy of on gotFocus of txt1:

dim frmAlias as form

SomeWhereElsebutTxt1.Setfocus

Set frmAlias = New Form_frmEmployees

frmAlias.set focus

End Sub

I think that is pretty close. I also seem to remember locking up the computer by not shifting the focus off the original control that had the focus.

RE: Open a second copy of the same form. TheAceMan1 (Programmer)11 Mar 05 23:46How are ya LittleSmudge . . . . .

Earlier versions of Access came with an Solutions database. It has a very good example of what you want. The specific secnario is based on an Orders database where an order is being entered and a new order comes in over the phone. As many instances of the form as necessary can be opened as the example shows.

If you don't have the Solutions.mdb on your CD, you can download it below:

Download from Garry's Special collection

Its an oldie but goodie and gives in-depth instructions . . . See Ya! . . . . . . RE: Open a second copy of the same form. ZmrAbdulla (TechnicalUser)12 Mar 05 00:29CODEOption Compare Database

Question: Why would you want to open more than one copy of a form? Am I missing something here?

I have a data anaylsis database ( users can look at Management information data but not change it ) and I have a 'View' on a certain data block that can be divided five different ways.
Ie, View By Month, By Centre, By Sector, etc.

All of the forms need virtually the same layout except for the data source "Group By" etc.

So I though I'd use exactly the same form for each.

But there is a requirement to "Drill Down"
Ie. Currently viewing By Month - now want to view That Month By Centre. AND Once the user has finished looking at the data by Centre then close the top layer asnd have the ByMonth data still there.

So thats the Why Missinglinq.

Then factor in that I've already got three different data blocks that need this approach - if I can get it to work I'll have Three forms in the database FE rather than FIFTEEN = Much simpler for management of the db and for maintenance etc.

Now I'm off to work on some of the suggestions above

Thanks for your input people - I'll let you lnow how I get on.

RE: Open a second copy of the same form. LittleSmudge (Programmer)(OP)12 Mar 05 17:41Finally got it all to work folks.

The reason I was struggling initially (and this is an important point to making it work ) the

DIM frm As FORM

statement must be at least a Module Level declaration.

I skipped this ( now obvious ) step and left it in the calling event procedure, so as soon as the event procedure ended the object was released from memory and the new form disappeared before it even had time to be displayed.

A further complication was that I couldn't get the thing to create a Third and forth instance. I decided that this was because I was re-using the same object name - even though I am using
Set frm = NEW Form_FormA

So I Globally defined an InstanceCounter (intInstC) and Defined the Form object as an array of objects

Public frmInst(5) As FORM

Then I create a New Instance using
intInstC = intInstC + 1
Set frmInst(intInstC) = New Form_frmPriorityRatio
frmInst(intInstC).SetFocus

and in the OnClose event of this form I have
If intInstC > 0 Then
intInstC = intInstC - 1
End If

That all now works fine.

Thanks again for your guidance people.

RE: Open a second copy of the same form. LittleSmudge (Programmer)(OP)14 Mar 05 04:16A final footnote :-

I realised yesterday, in a moment of inspiration, why I was having trouble with 3rd and 4th instances etc.

I had made the FORMs object a GLOBAL variable instead of a module level variable. This mean that despite of the
Set frm = NEW FORM_FormA I was still re-using the same variable for the second instance and all subsequent instances.

By making the FORMs object a Module level variable in FormA itself I can now get FormA to create as many versions of itself as it needs without having to keep count or use an Array of FORM objects.

RE: Open a second copy of the same form. ZmrAbdulla (TechnicalUser)14 Mar 05 05:17Allen Browne Managing Multiple Instances of a Form also describes this.

BTW..
I know nothing abut Class Objects. Is that possible to create a form on the fly that defined in a class module? If it is possible it would be better way than opening a new instance of form. I have seen something similar in VB6. I don't know if it is normal or abnormal
Is there any good tutorial on the web to learn class objects?

RE: Open a second copy of the same form. ZmrAbdulla (TechnicalUser)14 Mar 05 08:17I know it is possible with "Application.CreateForm".
I am talking about creating a form from the code that defined in the class module.(There won't be a form in the database).
I am having a faint picture on that. Doing GOOGLE on the subject. Zameer Abdulla
