Data captured in accredited systems will automatically feed back into your GP clinical system. In MESH accredited GP practice systems, this means the information on vaccination will flow directly into the GP system workflow, this applies to TPP only. The route to EMIS Web is via NHSD data feed overnight. Vision and Microtest practices will receive vaccine notifications via NHS mail.
The national specification requires that accredited solutions provide a set of reports to the centre where the data will be coordinated. The Outcomes4Health solution is fully compliant with this requirement.
The Outcomes4Health solution is ready now and fully meets NHS England specifications. The services have been set up ready for 1 December 2020, though the actual start date will depend upon vaccine availability. It will go live on the instruction of NHS England.
Yes - some clinical systems will be able to automatically interrogate these codes for auto-filing into the record. This is dependent on NHS Digital completing the specification for auto-ingest (expected imminently).
PCN sites are being set up in 3 waves. A letter was sent by NHS England to all wave 1 sites and PCN leads have been asked to return site information via a webform. A link to the webform was sent out to PCN leads on the 8th December 2020.
For wave 1 sites who have not received the letter or webform access information, or for wave 2 and 3 sites requiring more information, a dedicated email has been set up for questions and clarification. This is:
Once set up on Outcomes4Health, users will receive initial access information by email from Pinnacle. This will be sent to the email provided by the user for set up. Please log in to the platform at and:
Batch and expiry date information can be auto-populated using a bar code scanner - see video guide. Alternatively sites can add batch information to the system via a dedicated template to support easy population of information from the service screen. Using this approach introduces an option to select batch and expiry information in the main service screen that will auto-populate as detailed in the guide below:
The vaccine information/history for flu and COVID-19 is displayed in the screen via the NHS Immunisation History (accessible over internet or HSCN/N3). If working over HSCN/N3, with a valid smartcard and reader, the user can access National Care Record via a hang tab in the right hand side of the page.
Further to conversations with your CCG last week, we are writing to confirm that your PCN designated site will begin operation early next week (week beginning 14 December 2020). This means that you should start standing up your site in order to be ready to administer the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine from Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 December following a delivery of vaccine the previous day. This letter follows our letter to all GP practices of 4 December, giving notice to PCN groupings that local vaccination services will start to come online on a phased basis. This letter should also be read alongside the information contained within our letter to all GP practices of 1 December.
You should start vaccinating patients aged 80 years and over as advised by the Joint Committee for Vaccinations and Immunisations (JCVI) from 15 December. This excludes any patients within this cohort who are totally housebound. Once further operational advice on vaccine handling has been agreed you should also start to vaccinate care home residents. We will be working with sites during the week of 14 December to ensure safe set up of this delivery model.
A summary of the key dates and milestones contained within this letter can be found at Annex A. We are also holding a webinar for those sites starting next week to help prepare you for standing up your local service, on Tuesday 8 December at 19:30 to 20:30 and which we will invite you to attend via email. Alternatively, you can register to attend this event here.
We hope that the information contained within this letter is helpful and clear. Can we thank you again for your incredibly quick and positive response to the call to mobilise the COVID-19 vaccination programme. If you have any outstanding questions, please direct them to your CCG, who will if necessary seek advice from NHSE/I region, with whom the national team is in regular and close contact.
A dedicated Vaccination Service Helpdesk is being set up, offering telephone and email advice from 06:00-22:00 every day, including bank holidays. We will share details with you soon. In the meantime, for any queries that your CCG is unable to answer, please contact our mailbox england.cov-...@nhs.net
Vaccination is the most effective method of preventing infectious diseases; widespread immunity due to vaccination is largely responsible for the worldwide eradication of smallpox and the restriction of diseases such as polio, measles, and tetanus from much of the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that licensed vaccines are currently available to prevent or contribute to the prevention and control of twenty-five preventable infections.
Alex Poor, Pinnacle chief data officer, says the app is particularly exciting because it will benefit the people who need it the most. Sharing this level of data is quite unique, but we see it as our duty to share it safely for the benefit of our Māori people and most vulnerable communities.
