Hey all!
I know there has been a bit of chat about this before but reckon we should put words into action. Anyone want to cycle the south downs way over 2 days?
Was thinking 22-23 june.

Sweet! That weekend and the one after are what i've got penciled in to ride the SDW with some guys from work anyway. I want to try to do it in a day though, after it defeated me last year I will not be beaten this time! I'll be doing a few long rides in the coming weekends if people are keen? The cycle to Eastbourne is a cracker and if we got the train to Amberley first its about half way.

Well up for it though, hopefully I can do both! It would be much better to do the ride with the wackies :-)

What ever happened with the plan for this baby?
Is it go go go....or is it a no no no?

Come on peoples...lets do it. Its only a 100 odd miles of mountain biking heaven.

Let's do it! Would be great if someone who wasn't doing it dropped off our tents etc at a campsite on route and joined us for the night...would save an awful lot of lugging!

Otherwise there must be guest houses/pubs along the way...but u can't beat a bit of camping can you?!

Ok so, rough plan is....

Step 1 - Train to Winchester Sat 22nd at 6.30am. Arrives just before 8.30am and cost about £20 (I can book for four of us and get a discount).

Step 2 - cycle our butts off

Step 3 - stop, eat our own weight in food, sleep amazingly (hopefully?!!)
           I was thinking here....    http://www.bunctonmanor.supanet.com/index.html

Step 4 - wake up

Step 5 - cycle our butts off

Step 6 - train back to Brighton (about £6)

Step 7 - sleep like you've never slept before

So train about £25 in total.  Camping is £8 a night per person.  It's about half way along the south downs way - that cool or do people want to try and get further along and do a shorter day sunday?
Pub grub Saturday night...yummy!!!  Ample parking so can take car with all our camping gear over friday night.  Unless anyone who doesn't want to cycle fancies driving out there to join us camping?  Maybe do a little bit of cycling with us and then go back?

Who's in?!!

I'll be on the earliest train to Winchester on the 22nd.

Going with a group of guys from work to try and do it in a day. If it's hardcore raining like last year we'll leave it to the week after.

That my plan peeps, see you on the train? Or maybe you'll catch us up on route.

Xx

I'm stubborn, and the bastard defeated me at Brighton last year.

I can't pull out, the date is set.... tis too late for me Brother. I could meet you the next day if i'm feeling really tough (pretty unlikely to be honest)

1.5 South Downs Way's in a weekend. Sounds.... er... fun

I know I know I have run s miles and miles of the SDW in preparation for the SDW relay, it's steep and hilly but my bike will take it up it

Mallorca, they just loved kicking my butt everyday. i did 65 km on the first day and that was warm up ! The rides just kept getting longer and longer after that. I think coffee and sugar can do great things but I reckon it's something to do with my height body weight ratio that I survived.

We have got to organise a wacky trip to Spain, the hostels are pretty cheap.

Keep climbing !

So, it would seem the sdw group is depleting. Jody is working, Matt has his folks down, Julian has childcare probs. So I'm going to throw it out there that we maybe look at another date?
:-(
Anyone free 6/7th July?

The wee Myda woman gets off for summer holidays and will be going back to Spain sometime in the week of the 23rd July...
I am able to do anything after that....I am in Ireland and Scotland from the 6th of the 20th of August.
That's my plans....I may be able to other times when Myda is still here.
If you can accomodate me then that would be coolio and his little gangio...if not...then I hope it rains all weekend on you...ha ha
No I dont hope it rains on you...
