Realtek is a very common audio solution for many OEM computer brands. Realtek is usually a simple platform for delivering quality sound/audio solutions to consumers. Below are some of the more common solutions to Realtek audio driver issues and installation options.

Stock windows audio driver doesnt has terrible quality for my microphone, and its too quiet. In Windows 10, this was resolved by installing official realtek audio driver cab file from device manager.

Earlier this week Driver & Support Assistant recommended upgrading the Realtek audio drivers to 6.0.9360.1 for my NUC10i5FNH. The install completed fine but now I have no audio output devices. Ive tried troubleshooting and reinstalling manually to no avail . It worked fine for the previous driver - I wonder if rolling back to the previous version might fix the problem but I cant see how to do this (see screenshot). Any suggestions?

I searched the forum and read different topics regarding asio and realtek, but I'm 99% convinced it's windows 11. I've watched every YouTube video possible on how to delete/disable the the Realtek audio driver. While it can be deleted, it's only temporary. The second you restart or shut down the computer, the Realtek driver comes back. This wouldn't be an issue if it didn't freeze cakewalk and other vst's(ezdrummer) and I have to re start the computer constantly. Asio is the most steady driver, and I try to use that most often, especially if I'm using ezd in standalone mode. The most frustrating thing is, I can go on my old laptop with windows 10 and don't have any issues with the audio drivers. I contacted hp technical support and that was like talking to a brick wall. I guess I'm curious if anyone else had these issues with windows 11. The biggest thing for me is having the lowest latency possible. I run my roland drums into my laptop for ezdrummer, so I need the lowest latency possible, which is by using the asio driver.

I have a behringer umc22, but I rarely use it. I have no need to use it for cake walk or ezdrummer as my e drums plug directly into my laptop via usb. Maybe it's just my laptop, but it is impossible to delete the Realtek audio driver. I've deleted it from the device Manger about 100 times now and it just comes back. Also, I did go into my bios settings and there is no option to turn off the mother board sound, but I really wouldn't wanna do that as then I woukd have no sound at all. Also, asio is the only driver that will give me low latency. Wasapi is around 10ms and that is unacceptable for drums, especially live. Asio is 1.5ms. That's a pretty significant difference

Disabling it will temporarily use the high definition codec, but as soon as i turn the computer off or restart, it reverts back to realtek. I could go in and disable it everytime, but that would be super annoying. I should have the option of the Realtek driver or HD driver, but I don't and that is my issue. Also, wasapi exclusive will give me about 5ms latency at best at that's with alot of static. 10ms is the lowest I can get with wasapi with no interference.

About computer optimization for audio there are many threads and forums. Enabled Realtek by itself should not influence anything, at least not when unused (by Cakewalk and Windows). Getting most stable drivers under Window, which means RME device, is pricey. Steinberg should work fine when computer/system are ok.

Curious about the reason? The ALSA drivers don't support microphones for my soundcard (Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 VX). Also, It does not handle audio output quite well. I have issues. Also, I'd really like some software like the windows-only "Realtek Audio Manager" that does effects to the audio such as echoes and so on.

I've been to my sound control panel in an attempt to re-select my speakers, but lo they are nowhere to be seen. The realtek drivers in device manager also seem to have disappeared, replaced with AMD's, and leaving no sign of my speakers anywhere to be found. I have tried installing new devices in device manager, but they don't show. I've looked through my playback devices in sound settings (yes, even those hidden by 'disconnected' or 'disabled') and they still don't show. I've even been to my bios and checked for the onboard sound system, to check it's enabled. It is. Yet I still cannot connect to the speakers that until this update worked perfectly every single time.

While trawling my device manager I noticed a system device (high definition audio bus, I think) was highlighted as faulty. Don't ask me why. I searched for a driver update, it came through and now the sound panel recognises my speakers once more.

AMD needs to absolutely remove or make audio drivers an optional part of their driver package. The issues with audio affect my system every time I install a driver since moving to AMD earlier this year. I've tried their "Vote on features" tool built into the driver but it is very specific to what it allows us to vote on, and therefore is not very useful. I've run out of ideas how to suggest these things to their driver team, if anyone has something new to try please speak up and let's collaborate.

This all stems from AMD's insistence to include their own audio drivers in the Adrenalin driver package. If AMD would recognize this and make the audio portion an OPTIONAL install during a driver upgrade/downgrade we'd all be better off!!

Update: The new adrenalin version 23.2.1 fixes the issue with sound (I "clean installed" it and kept my settings). However windows is still updating it's own driver over it after installation XD so you just have to "back" it in device manager (which is what I did) and it all works fine.

I've seen a web article that said to install Adrenalin using a custom install to only update the drivers I want. This was an article about installing only the audio driver, but I would want to install everything EXCEPT the audio driver. However, my system is apparently too old to use Adrenalin at all.

Could this be done with Catalyst? I don't remember being given an opportunity to select what Catalyst installs. Alternatively, is there another way to update just the graphics / video software and leave the audio driver alone? Or, is there a way to manually get the AMD HDMI audio device to use the current Windows Driver? As far as I can tell from going through this discussion, the fixes that worked for others didn't work when I tried them, but I'm open to any suggestions.

If you are experiencing issues with audio on your laptop, specifically related to the Realtek devices, and you have already tried updating the drivers from the Dell website, here are some additional steps you can take:

Hey I just posted a possible solution. Check your hardware ids for both realtek devices. In my case they were different hardware ids all together so windows was automatically installing the wrong driver!I didn't see Intel smart audio in the dell drivers so I used iobit driver booster to update all the drivers in the system and everything started working fine afterwards I'm thinking I found the solution.

So I noticed something interesting. The 2 separate realtek devices had 2 different hardware ID's!!1 was hdaudio (which is realtek)Another was Intel smart audio. I left both devices as is (both as realtek) and decided to use iobit driver booster to update all of the drivers in The system. Well to my surprise, after a restart, the sound started working again and it was only 1 realtek audio device. Time will tell if this was the permanent fix but I have a good feeling about it.

The built-in speakers of my laptop were working on windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit(10.0, Build 19041). I updated the Operating System to Windows 11 Home Single Language Version:- 21H2 (OS build:-22000.282, OS Version:-Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.282.0) on 27th October 2021. After that built-in speakers are not working. I want to install the best driver for Realtek(R) Audio Device.

If anyone else tries it, I'd point out that when the system says it needs to restart to update the Realtek Audio driver, there was a Command Prompt running some code at the same time. Wait for that to finish. It appears to have been updating more than just the audio driver. In the Command Prompt session, there were a series of pings to the local loopback IP so it must've been updating some Network drivers as well. Just wait a minute or two for that to finish, wouldn't want to interrupt ANY driver updates.

Hi
I own a acer swift 3 notebook and the latest driver available is Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.8491_W10x64
However after updating the volume is still soft. Can you advise what other drivers I can use or buy which can improve the audio?

Some time ago a driver update seems to have removed the Level fader of the inputs together with its mute toggle :ONow, to achieve the same, I'm only left with this option which introduces latency in the audio playback:Enabling Listen to this device in the Rear input Recording properties.

So is there another way to regain this functionality? Is there something like what's suggested in this other question?Unmute audio input (microphone) in OSX programaticallyBasically some command to unmute the direct monitoring of the Line In audio input on Windows, or maybe an app that controls the drivers?Realtek audio console doesn't provide this option :(

I just had the same problem, but it's not because of the driver. The culprit is the new realtek audio control which has removed the lever for audio monitoring level. You have to use an old version of realtek control panel to make it work. For example try downloading audio drivers for this motherboard it and look for the file RAVCpl64.exe under the Vista64 folder.
