Microsoft has been evaluating the public health situation and its impact on our customers. To ease one of the many burdens our customers are facing, Microsoft will delay the scheduled end of service date for the Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions of Windows 10, version 1709. This means devices will receive monthly security updates only from May to October. The final security update for these editions of Windows 10, version 1709 will be released on October 13, 2020 instead of April 14, 2020. See the Microsoft Tech Community Blog.

Security updates for Windows 10, version 1709 will be available via regular servicing channels: Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services, and the Microsoft Update Catalog. Customers will not need to alter current update management workflows. For example, all supported versions of Microsoft Configuration Manager (current branch) will continue to support Windows 10, version 1709 until October 13, 2020.

If they have not already, IT teams are encouraged to shift to Windows Update for Business, allowing users to take both feature updates and quality updates directly from Microsoft in a secure and often faster manner. See Windows as a Service (WaaS) to learn how to keep Windows 10 devices up to date.

For a comprehensive list of end-of-service dates for all versions and editions of Windows client and Windows Server operating systems, see the Windows lifecycle fact sheet or utilize the Microsoft Lifecycle Policy search tool to find lifecycle dates for all commercial Microsoft products. We also recommend bookmarking the Windows message center and following @WindowsUpdate for the latest news and announcements.

Windows 10, version 1709 is the fourth feature update for Windows 10, offering IT professionals a comprehensive set of intelligent security solutions, streamlined deployment and management options, and proactive insights to help protect data and devices, save time, and reduce costs. We recommend that you test the newest features and functionality in this Semi-Annual Channel release now in preparation for broad deployment to the devices in your organization.

To ensure devices in enterprise environments are running the most current and secure version of Windows with the latest security updates, any device on Windows 10 Enterprise edition or Windows 10 Pro edition that is configured to receive updates automatically from Windows Update will be automatically offered Windows 10, version 1709 after January 18, 2018. This does not apply to long-term servicing editions.

Is anybody testing with Windows 10, version 1709, also known as the Fall Creators Update? I am noticing that every time I reboot by selectin the power button through the user interface and then selecting either reboot or shutdown, it generates a message in the application event log that says.

I am able to consistently recreate the log file entry on every Windows 10 version 1709 device I have. The reboot hang issue is more sporadic. I am able to recreate this problem with several different version of BigFix

Is the only supported version for Fall Creators the 9.5.7 version or does the 9.2.12 version also include the fixed agent? We have a few reports of machines having this issue but seems sporadic. Just trying to figure out upgrade timeline and what versions I can upgrade to (currently 9.2.9)

My work laptop is running Windows 10 v1709. I have been using Illustrator (23.1) on it with no issues. Work just got me a new laptop running the same Windows 10, and I went to download Illustrator on my machine and since Adobe released CC 2021, it looks like now you can't download the 2019 versions of the apps anymore, which are the only ones that would run on Windows 10 v1709. My work wont upgrade my Windows so there is no way for me to download the apps I need now. Is there a way to transfer my old Illustrator 23.1 from my old laptop to my new one? Or any other workarounds to get a working version on my machine?

Today we are announcing the availability of License Included (LI) Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for Windows Server version 1709 and 1803 for Amazon EC2, providing customers with an easy and flexible way to get up and running with the latest versions of Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel release. These versions of Windows Server include new enhancements such as smaller disk footprint, Kubernetes support, and Windows subsystem for Linux (WSL), and are best suited for use cases including building modern container and micro-services based Windows applications.

By running Windows Server versions 1709 and 1803 on Amazon EC2, customers can combine the scale, performance, and elasticity of AWS with the new capabilities in the Semi-Annual Channel release versions of Windows Server.

Windows Server, version 1709 is the server counterpart to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. By this point, Microsoft had dropped the Windows Server 2016 name and as a result, it refers to itself as simply "Windows Server". This was the first Windows Server release that was part of the Semi-Annual channel (today known as General Availability Channel). Due to it only being available in Server Core, Desktop Experience components are not present. Support for the operating system ended on 9 April 2019.

I did install this file, but according to the instructions, another window should pop-up where Windows asks if I want to install this device, but that is not happening. After CMD window, nothing happens.

1. Plug dongle into the computer.
2. Right click on the "install" file and "Run as administrator"
3. "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Yes
4. A Black/DOS window will popup, wait.
5. Windows Security: "Would you like to install this device software?" Install -

Are you sure that your enterprise system is not blocking ports or keeping it from being installed on your specific laptop? Have you tried doing the install process on a laptop that is not enterprise/controlled by your company that is running windows 10?

My computer here at work was just upgraded to Windows 10 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update), build 16299.125. The Windows Start Menu now contains tiles for Weather, Mail, 3D Paint, OneNote, XBox, etc. In previous versions of Windows 10, I could right click on these tiles and remove them, or drag and rearrange them. Now, my only options are to "Turn Live tile off," "Pin to Taskbar," "Rate and Review" and "Share."

I have run gpresult and confirmed that the Group Policy for User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Start Layout is Disabled (At first it was "Not Configured," so I disabled it). But I still cannot edit, delete or customize any of the Start Menu tiles in this Fall Creators Update.

Sandboxing the application kernel objects, the AppContainer environment prevents the application from influencing, or being influenced by, other application processes. This prevents a properly contained application from corrupting other processes in the event of an exception.

Windows 10, version 1709: Pipes are only supported within an app-container; ie, from one UWP process to another UWP process that's part of the same app. Also, named pipes must use the syntax "\.\pipe\LOCAL\" for the pipe name.

Does this mean I can no longer access kernel objects from NtFsControlFile (FSCTL_PIPE_LISTEN, FSCTL_PIPE_WAIT, FSCTL_PIPE_DISCONNECT) to communicate with pipes in other processes than my own App Container? Or is it simply saying that the semantics of this operation changed?

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

On Update history, you can view which updates were installed successfully and which those that failed with a timestamp, which can help you pinpoint which update is causing the problem. Click the Uninstall updates link.

Microsoft hasn't moved everything to the Settings app, so you'll now be taken to the Uninstall an update page on Control Panel. Select the update and click the Uninstallbutton.

Thank you very much for your reply. I followed your instruction. At "Update History" page, I found many "Feature Update to Windows 10 version 1709" failed to install. At "Uninstall an Update" page, I found all currently installed updates but no updates that failed to install. So I really don't know which updates I need to uninstall.

Windows 10 Update Assistance continues downloading the latest security update ie Feature Update Windows 10 version 1709 and installing it whenever I turn on my computer. It failed to install and froze at 33% every time.

I downloaded Windows update troubleshooter and did run. It said the Windows update issues were fixed. Then I installed the Windows 10 version 1709 update and it froze at 33% again as my many previous attempts.

We're rolling out Office 2016 Standard (not 365), and so to make it a smooth installation where the end user doesn't have to do anything, I created an .msp file with the Microsoft Office Customization Tool. It installs well, sets the right settings, &C., programs work fine after.

"Prior to the 1709 Fall Creators update, the Windows 10 'Notification & actions' settings dialog would show duplicate and redundant application icons in the 'Get notification from these senders' list of apps. Apps could hang around for weeks after uninstalling and this led to usability issues and confusion. This problem wasn't limited to Macrium Reflect, it was a generic design issue and was widely reported.

The Windows 10 Fall Creators update has attempted to rectify this problem by restricting the apps that appear in the list, but has perhaps gone a bit far. It appears that the list now only shows apps that are running AND currently have an icon visible in the Notification area of the task bar. As soon as the icon is hidden it's removed from the list."
