Dear DIATM Alumni,
Greetings from DIATM Faculty, Staff and students !! Hope this mail finds you in the best of health and spirit. This mail concerns you and your college (DIATM). Please go through the mail with the right earnest. Kindly forward this mail to your batch-mates and if possible please discuss.
In 2007 the idea of an Alumni Association of DIATM was conceived with the initiatives of the then DIATM management including the Director. In January 2008, it was decided a sum of Rs 500/- will be set aside from the refundable caution money for the 2007 batch graduated from DIATM in 2007 towards life membership fees for the Alumni Association of DIATM. This practice followed thereafter.
In 2008 the passed out students of 2006 and 2007 graduates gathered on May 11, 2008 to welcome the final year students of 2008 batch in the Alumni Association. On 25.08.2010, DIATM Alumni Association was registered for the year 2010-2011. On 24 April 2011, the 1st Alumni Meet was held with initiatives of the College Management with Dr Syed Shamser Ali as the Convenor. It made a good beginning though the attendance in the meet for various reasons was much less than desired. From July 2014 again some initiatives were taken up by the management to organize an active Alumni Association which culminated in AlMeet 2015 held on the 11th and 12th April 2015 which was relatively well attended (97 participants across all batches of students) and thus was a big success. In the meetings of April 11 & 12, 2015 an Alumni Committee was formed with the expectations that this committee would take the Association forward. The college management feels it has already taken a lot of initiatives already and as this is an Association of former students the initiatives and activities should mainly come from them and not from the existing college management.
However, recently, a few ex-students (one or two) have started writing highly derogatory, abusive and threatening mails and circulating them to all corners. On April 29 & 30, 2016 a Cultural Fest was organized at the college in which the College Management tried to invite the Alumni and organize a meeting. As this was Election time in the state the final official permission for organizing the Fest from the local Administration was delayed and was obtained at the last moment and consequently the information could not be sent well in advance to the Alumni. Even for this invitation there was severe negative reaction from the same group of students.
These series of mails have deeply hurt the Faculty, Management and the whole staff of the college and they do not want to take part in any Alumni activity in the future. As this money has been collected from 2008 onward by the college from a large group of students the college management has the responsibility to ensure that this money goes to safe hands and be spent for constructive purposes. Accordingly, the committee members have been again invited to meet and decide on the modus operandi as soon as possible and take the control and custody of the Alumni Association and the money respectively but by a group with constructive attitudes only.
We wish all success and happiness to each one of you and your family.
