The following image shows the Disk Management overview for several drives. Disk 0 has three partitions, and Disk 1 has two partitions. On Disk 0, the C: drive for Windows uses the most disk space. Two other partitions for system operations and recovery use a smaller amount of disk space.

If you used the recovery manager disk set or usb recovery media, it would have installed the recovery manager as part of the process. If you installed Windows 7 with a usb installer or a Windows disk and used the clean install method then you removed the ability to use F11 and access the recovery manager via the partition.

I'm trying to create recovery media, and have a 32Gb Sandisk Cruzer Facet that I was intending to use for it. Unfortunately, Recovery manager doesn't recognize the flash drive...it never shows up in the menu at all. The drive shows up when I click the computer icon in the files section, with no issues at all, as you can see.

I've tried old and new usb pens (front and rear) and nothiong is recognised by the recovery manager - I bought a new USB pen for this purpose so will HP refund the money or send some free disks as the patch doesn't seem to have arrived?

The requirement here is we will be having replicated hard disk which will have application data at primary site and we want to detach it before SRM initiates the shutdown of VM at the primary site. We have requested to detach it through our program to vcenter. However our request was turned down by vcenter since SRM was doing the configuration changes to protected VM!. I wanted to know is there any way in SRM configuration to force the detach request during shutdown of VM. So that we can easily attach the disk at when the VM comes up at recovery site.

once you add VM with two disks to the protection group. You have to go to the PG -> Virtual machines, and select the new VM with two disks. Open the configure protection settings and choose the RDM disk to be detached or add disk from the recovery site. When you are done the VM status should be changed to 'OK'.

On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press Enter. (If Repair your computer isn't listed as an option, then your computer doesn't include preinstalled recovery options, or your network administrator has turned them off.)
