Hello,

In case someone haven't followed development of remoteStorage protocol, please check out video on http://unhosted.org and this simple page with short explanation: http://unhosted.org/flyer.html

On unhosted.org you can also see links to few early examples of 'unhosted' apps and proposals for 'unhosting' others here:
https://github.com/unhosted/website/wiki/State-of-the-movement

Possibly we could easily drop in this engine: https://github.com/5apps/liquor-cabinet I hope in next two weeks to get together with folks from 5apps in Berlin and play a bit with it...

Another option could allow just to specify remoteStorage provided by someone else on different domain in webfinger profile of your diaspora account, with possible sync of addresses of your friends who also have remoteStorage defined to your remote storage contacts.

I strongly encourage everyone to try out (early alpha) of: http://sharedstuff.org and imagine using similar approach for distributed couchsurfing, carpooling, skillsexchange etc. IMO it could make very cool solution for community using diaspora to get access to all kind of cool 'unhosted' apps :D

BTW once ecosystem of 'unhosted' apps grows, I would expect different app choices for same functionality (like 10 different html5 client apps for sharing stuff etc.) similar to how desktop email clients, im clients etc. work - just use one you like the most and easily change it once you find another client even cooler!

Cheers!
=)
