I'm trying to use the Genie to check and possibly upgrade the firmware on my AC1900/A7000 WiFi USB Adapter. I have the latest version of the genie, and when I hit "check for update" it gets to 20% every time and just stops. I've let it set for an hour, and it never moves. It always stalls at 20%, have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and issue keeps happening. I believe I have firmware in need of upgrade, but don't know how else to do it. Tech support didn't seem to understand the issue or wasn't too interested in it, so I have no alternative. Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you fix it?

I was getting frustrated by getting Updated Failed on all the firmware releases. I verified the model (TL-PA9020) and the country (US). However I overlooked the "Version". I have Version 1.0 (V1) and the model page defaulted to Version 3 (V3). After selecting the correct version I was able to do the update.

I had assumed I had V3 since the firmware dates were from before when I purchased the adpaters new on Amazon.com. Not sure if there is any significant difference between the versions but frustrating I didn't the latest one when I bought it. The Amazon product page makes no mention of hardware version.

I am hoping someone can help. I have called HP support on 3 separate occasions and have spent hours trying to find answer. Perhaps the information is clearly posted somewhere but I have yet to find it. Below is a snip it from HP driver download page for the adapter i am using, which happens to be a HP branded Intel adapter. According to HP "Single NVM Version is new firmware format which represent an unified version in place of the previously used EEPROM/NVM Version or OROM version"

Intel has this link but mentions nothing about HP NVM. HP does not do this with any other adapters from what I can tell, they use the same firmware format as vendor. If VMware is only recognizing Intel firmware, how do I determine if my adapter is supported in VMware compatibility matrix - -and-i-o/ethernet-products.html

For HPE driver and download website you can see combo image v1.2028.0 breakup and according you can match with VMware Compatibility Guide to determine if the adapter is supported in VMware compatibility matrix.

1) Please share the PBA of the adapter. You may refer to the link below on where to find the PBA number. Providing photos of the adapter focusing on the markings (white sticker) found on the physical card will be highly appreciated for us to double check on it. The PBA consists 6-3 digit number located at the last part of the serial number. This would help us identify if you are using an Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM) or retail version of Intel Ethernet Adapter.

JCP038: Unable to run the (installation or configuration) job JID_865013156682 because Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory..

According to the previously referenced posts I need to amend nvmupdate.cfg and add the current ETRACKID (800096c1) to the end of the REPLACES of one of the entries in order to be able to be update the FW of the X710-DA2

After further validation, we concluded this is a Dell NIC, unfortunately Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) cards cannot have Intel NVM put on them. The image for that card is not included in the NVMUpdate tool from Intel, Dell publishes that image.

We searched far and wide for a solution to assist you, but regrettably, DELL NVM is required. Because the Dell package is unfamiliar to Intel representative, we unable to offer the best advice regarding why the package preferred a simplified and then newly packaged 700Series_NVMUpdatePackage_v9_20_Linux.tar.gz archive. We strongly hope you may get in touch with Dell to inquire about their expertise regarding the dell driver package.

Each adapter card is shipped with the latest version of qualified firmware at the time of manufacturing. However, NVIDIA issues firmware updates occasionally that provide new features and bug fixes. To check that your card is programmed with the latest available firmware version, download the mlxup firmware update and query utility. The utility can query for available Mellanox adapters and indicate which adapters require a firmware update. If the user confirms, mlxup upgrades the firmware using embedded images. The latest mlxup executable and documentation are available in mlxup - Update and Query Utility.

little off topic. I hooked a soundblaster Z to my TV adapter via toslink and use Dolby headphone, on win 10 this dolby atmos app is adding another nice effect to games and videos, I prefered that over normal stereo by far, highly recommended

I updated the firmware on my OPN 1 hearing aids myself yesterday using my Expresslink and the appropriate wires to connect to the aids. The process took a little over 3 minutes for both aids and it did them simultaneously. It was very quick and easy using the Genie 2 software (updated version).

Onload software accelerates your application without requiring modifications to the application. Onload is a premium add-on product for XtremeScale adapters that provides POSIX compliant TCP, UDP, and multicast interfaces with full kernel bypass.

TCP Direct is Xilinx's ultra-low latency stack. Since version 8.0.0, TCP Direct packages require OpenOnload packages to be installed with matching first three parts of the version number. Prior to version 8.0.0, TCP Direct is included within OpenOnload packages.

Our PTP adapters use the standard Linux drivers (either installed via a driver RPM or part of an Onload installation). The Enhanced PTP Daemon (sfptpd) takes full advantage of all the PTP hardware features available on our PTP adapters.

Since v3.6.0.1015, sfptpd is shipped with multiple RPM package types in order to match the differing installation conventions of older and newer operating systems and to take advantage of newer default build options.

SolarCapture Pro is able to capture packets received from the network at very high rates, apply filtering in hardware and software, perform custom processing, and write packets to disk in PCAP format.

Currently, there are no plans for further product releases of SolarCapturePro. Instead, we have recently open-sourced the SolarCapture code. This is not a formally tested version, but has been updated to use Python 3.

These pages contain OEM-validated drivers and software for adapters that are purchased from Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. For the latest Solarflare drivers and software please select Drivers and Software.

The Linux utilities RPM package contains the sfupdate utility which can be used to reflash the firmware on the adapter.
The Release Note contains a changelog for all firmware changes between public releases.

The Linux diagnostics (sfreport) is a script that can be used to generate an HTML report which contains information on the system, drivers and adapter which is useful to Solarflare support and engineering teams.

Some adapters require a firmware/software update for compatibility with a newer version of iOS/iPadOS. The update process is usually automatic - but the iPad must have an active internet connection while the Adapter is connected for the update.

Recently I did a network audit for our home and realized that we were running WEP for security. It was probably set this way when I upgraded us to FIOS. I switched the Router over to the more secure WPA.

I then went to each of the networked devices in the house and switched their security over to WPA, including the Nintendo Wii. Nearly all appliances with Wireless built-in have WPA support now (although this wasn't the case two years ago.) Everything worked, and I didn't give it a second thought.

This evening The Wife said that her ReplayTV wasn't updating its TV Guide. It's currently connected to the MN-740 and I'd forgotten to update it...when I went to set it up, I realized that this device doesn't support WPA. Lame.

If you're comfortable taking the chance that you might brick your adapter and you absolutely void the warranty, you can do a one-way (that means, non-reversible) flash of the MN-740 with some hacking.

You then need to run the Update, and while it's up, but before you hit "next" you overwrite some files using the alternate firmware. Again, you may brick your device, and you're breaking the EULA. You're on your own.
