Thisis about the third person posting this same scenario within the past few days. I sure hope witech responds with a solution for you. From other replies it has been stated to use different equipment than what you are. I believe they say to use a micropod 2 or 3. No jbox.

As of right now we are experiencing some issues with Witech2 & Witech2 for J2534 Software. The issue was reported this morning after some cases were documented. Please read below for more information. Got an email from AE tools yesterday about some Witech issues.

Thanks for replies. Ended up having a mobile tech come out and update the ecm. He used a micropod but also seemed to have a lot of issues getting it updated. Still have yet to hear any response from witech support.

Today I visited a body shop and was asked to scan a 2020 Jeep. I attempted to scan and the Witech system wanted a Tech Authority login. When I attempted to login, the message said my subscription was expired. So I am confused about this. I paid for the Witech diagnostic software. If I want to program, I buy TechAuthority. Now in their brilliance the programming software is required to scan and clear codes on a SGW (Secure Gateway) vehicle. That is not cool. Does Auto Auth have an option for Witech II so I do not have to buy a second subscription every time I scan a SGW vehicle?

Totally agree, the other day I actually could do more with the autel than with witech which after paying $1800 doesn't make sense .I understand having to pay to be able to program but having to pay to scan /clear codes?? Not fairOnce snap on inc puts their greedy hands on something they ruin it for us.

FWIW, while attending an FCA 1234YF class at MACS in February the instructor, Alan McAvoy reported that TechAuthority is moving to Service Library which is what the dealers currently use. SL will offer all of the vehicle scan history and 3D circuit tracer tools.

Scott,Unfortunately, Tech Authority will still not have access to STAR cases nor build data something we should have. Dealer Connect does.By the way it is called Service Library already if you access it through Witech2 even on the aftermarket side.

It has always required a Tech authority subscription. It's just that Chrysler fixed the hole they had in their software about a month ago. In the past you only had to buy a subscription once and then witech2 wouldn't care if you had a valid current script. However someone caught on and they changed it about a month ago. Now you aren't getting into a sgm vehicle without it.

For $50/year you can register aftermarket tools with autoauth so they can unlock the secure gateway. Seems like you should be able to get a similar deal for your secure micropod. I'm really disliking Chrysler these days.

I completely understand your gripe with wiTech, however I was under the impression that both Snap-On and G-Scan had ponied up the $$$ to be authorized FCA SGW compatible. Was I misinformed? Or does that not help on a 2020 (too new).

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a little foggy here. I get the Witech requiring T/A to access Secure Gateway. My Snap On scanner is (supposedly) linked to my Witech account. I did this before this latest change and at that time it worked without issue. Do I now need Autoauth to make the Snap On work even though it worked previously?

Hi Reid:Your Snappy account is using some version of AutoAuth. You may not see it but it is there. For all intents and purposes, they are the administrator for the aftermarket. All roads go through them.Does that answer your question?Guido

I agree with you. For the most part, American vehicle manufactures are too stupid to figure this out. They probably have about 1000 people each with masters degrees in business and marketing. They think that making their product more difficult to access builds their brand. Build them cheap and stack them deep!

Hyundai and Kia Currently share an interface but use different software. The rumor is Genesis will get separated from Hyundai and require its own system. The same may happen with Honda and Acura. As of now I have no confirmation on any of this. I am seeing costs for tooling and subscriptions rising at a rapid rate.
