Yes You are correct in some way.
There is music recorded in 5.1 format. Pink Floyd and other grat artist release DTS CDs, there are also some concerts released in DVS CD audio like Nirvana Unplugged or Mike Oldfield Milenium Concert.
Spotify can only output stereo, there is no other way Foobar on the other hand can use Matrix plugin or other surround audio plugin to output 5.1 as well as play DTS content, i'm using that setup at this particular moment.

Decibel is compatible with most plugin formats (AAX, AU, VST3), 64bits only and is compatible with most DAWs and can be inserted on any tracks.
We recommend inserting Decibel on our master bus as the last plugin in your chain if you would like to analyze the loudness and frequency content of your program material.
Alternatively, you can use as many instances and any track in your session if you would like to analyze one particular sound.

FPS: you can decide if your Decibel plugin or standalone versions will render at 30fps or 60fps. You can also choose which frame rate Decibel Displays (Android, iOS) and the Decibel plugin will render at.
This histogram is particularly useful when using the various modes of the LUFS recording (See LUFS control bar section). Especially when using Decibel as a plugin, in Time Code mode where the histogram's playhead will sync to your DAWs playhead and override its previous values and writing over a time stamp that was already measured. If you have installed Vienna Instruments/Vienna Ensemble properly and they do not appear in the list of available devices, you will have to "tell" Sibelius the path where your virtual instruments and effects are located.
To do so, go to Playback Devices/Audio Engine Options/Virtual Instruments and Effects Folder and choose the path where you installed the Vienna Ensemble VST plugin (= the path where the file Vienna Ensemble x64.dll is located). If you are using Sibelius 6 or Sibelius 32-bit, you will have to add the folder where the 32-bit version of the Vienna Ensemble plugin (Vienna Ensemble.dll) is installed. Then restart Sibelius.
mplay and other application could be configured to use special HDMI device as audio output. But flashplugin could only use default device. The following method is used to override default device. But you need to change it back when your TV is disconnected from HDMI port.
