Thanks to our friends at Teenage Engineering, Playdate looks incredible. It's colorful. It fits in your pocket. And we worked hard to make sure buttons feel perfectly clicky and that the crank action is silky smooth.

Yes, the crank. Is it a gimmick? Nah. Does it charge Playdate's battery? Nope. Is it really fun? Yes yes yes. It's an analog controller that flips out from the side, allowing you to precisely dial in the action. Not every game uses it, but some really do, like Crankin's Time Travel Adventure, below.

You can also make your own Playdate games. Our SDK is free to download, no special hardware required. And with the Pulp game maker, all you need is a web browser. Plus, sideloading games onto the Playdate is easy.

If you ever want to play Playdate games on another screen, we've got that covered with the Playdate Mirror app. It's a desktop app that streams gameplay in real-time from your Playdate to a macOS, Windows, or Linux computer. Handy for recording your playthrough or using alternative game controllers.

A cute, clean way to protect your Playdate. The Playdate Cover aligns with Playdate's screws and secures itself magnetically. Plus, when folded, it looks like a delicious electronic ice cream sandwich. Check it out!

Playdate was created by Panic. Since 1999, Panic makes Mac software, and publishes video games like Firewatch, Untitled Goose Game, and Nour: Play With Your Food. Learn more about it from the first episode of the Playdate Podcast!

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) has over 200 parks and gardens, and many of these locations have individual picnic tables available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. Groupings of three or more tables are often reservable and available for gatherings of family/friends or company/organization. To guarantee your picnic date and location, we recommend making a picnic reservation in advance. Please check the Picnic Brochure for locations, fees, policies, insurance, and reservation information. Parks not included in the brochure may be reserved under a Special Use Picnic permit.

Notice for picnics in Washington Park
Portland Parks & Recreation picnic sites within Washington Park may be impacted due to the construction of the Reservoir Improvement Project by the Portland Water Bureau. The construction may close streets as well as parking throughout the park.

A Simple Picnic is a gathering of family/friends or company/organization in a single reserved picnic facility without exceeding the stated site capacity (typically 8-10 people per table). Event attendance is free - no sales, donations, or monetary exchange is required for people to attend.

Picnic with Alcohol and 49 People or Less
This type of event must not exceed 49 attendees of any age. Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) alcohol is allowed for beer and wine only. No kegs or one person serving alcohol for all is allowed.

By mail - The PP&R Picnic Worksheet Application and payment may be mailed to Portland Parks & Recreation Customer Service 1120 SW Fifth Avenue, First Floor, Portland, Oregon 97204. Please make checks payable to the City of Portland.

Once your event is booked, staff will send you a Special Use checklist outlining all the items required before your permit can be issued. This may include a site map, insurance, portable restrooms, special approval, and payment of additional fees.

Special Use Picnic permits must be booked with a Customer Service Representative and may require approval from the Park Supervisor or from the Office of Community & Civic Life. Payment of the application processing fee does not guarantee that the permit request will be approved. If a request is denied, your application processing fee and noise variance fee are non-refundable. Special Use Picnic permit requests must be made at least 15 days in advance of your event to avoid rush fees. Application fees increase when you book less than 15 days in advance (see the detailed fee information on page 5 of the Picnic Brochure).

Upon approval and payment of all applicable fees, you will receive a link to your issued picnic permit via email. A permit confirms your reservation and must be on-site during the event to be valid. Please print out the permit and take it with you to your event, or have a digital copy available for viewing. You can access your permit online anytime by logging in to your online account.

If a key is required for access or amenities as indicated in the Picnic Brochure, it may be picked up from our office Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The key may be picked up no more than two (2) business days prior to your event and requires a $100 refundable key deposit payable by cash, check, or Visa/MasterCard/Amex/Discover card. For a full refund of the key deposit, the key must be returned by Wednesday following the event date.

Recently I've been experiencing some difficulties with my JBL Xtreme. The device will randomly turn off after about half an hour or so when not charging, even when fully charged. When it turns off I am able to start it again, but the problem only gets worse and it'll turn off again after only a couple of minutes. Eventually it becomes impossible to start at all until it's plugged back into the charger again. It boots up fully charged as well after that.

Same problem. This is an issue. Does anyone have any ideas, like someone from JBL maybe to explain? this is making me feel that i have spent money on something that is not what it has been advertised to be.

Same problem. The Extreme doesn't start without connecting to the power even for one instant. Usually the shut down happens around 15 minutes after playing music from full charge. After conecting to the charger the battery seems full. Anyone has a solution?

I have the same issue. My Xtreme is just over 12 months old and has started shutting itself off every 10 mins even though battery is showing full charge. To get it going again, I have to plug it back in to the power. Take it off the power and the pattern repeats! Come on JBL help us out please!

Same problem here. Keeps disconnecting from my Windows 10 laptop and iPhone 7. Tried everything, no luck. Maybe a firmware update would be helpful from JBL. Such an expensive speaker shouldn't have such issues.

I've had contact with Harmon Kardon reps through email and they've stated that they have indeed found an issue with this speaker and have agreed to send me a replacement (out of warranty). Now I haven't gotten the replacement yet so I have yet to test it but let's hope that I didn't buy a $350 paper weight.

My jbl speaker doesn't work since the blue light or the on/off button doesn't work even if when I press it longer the blue light i still there is no responce whenever i press any keys? Can you help me fix this?

"If your JBL Xtreme only turns on whilst plugged in like mines did, dont panic, all you have to do is plug it in so it turns on, and hold the JBL CONNECT button beside the power button, and volume up, until the fifth light flashes red, then unplug the speaker and press the power button, I thought the battery was just finished but it wasnt, very happy"

seems like this shuts toggles the battery. if your speaker doesn't turn after trying this, the batt is now disabled. plug it in again and do same procedure to reanable it. seems like it's working good for me now after doing twice

I found out that with the unit on, if you press the JBL Connect button at the same time as pressing the volume down button, you hear a voice telling you the firmware version. Currently (Sept '16) its 7 4

strange thing is that i have a fake jbl charge 8 bluetooth speaker and it is doing the same thing. The battery is fully charged and reads 4.14v yet it turns its self off . also there is alot of distortion noise and popping after restarting the speaker and then it immediately beeps 3 times and turns off as if it was lobat.

This is just a guess but it could be that these speakers just have a problem where the battery quickly goes bad. There could also be some mass defect that's affecting so many. Best suggestion is to just buy a new one.

Yes, I believe that to be the case as well. Spending some time researching the issue I have found numerous cases that are similar if not exactly alike. I find it strange that JBL is yet to address it, it's very dissapointing really.

My Harmon Kardon Onyx IV speaker is only a few months old and has been used very few times. I do not intend to buy a new one. If they have improved the hardware, they did not do so on my new speaker. I bought three of them in December, one for me and two as gifts. Sad to have given away my old Bose speaker.

I just completed a download update. On your smart phone download JBL Connect and follow the simple steps to upgrade the Firmware. I wish JBL would have suggested this to me to begin with. Good Luck I hope this is helpful and works out for you.

Guys, i've had the same problem. With this type of problem you will only have two solutions. First is, if your unit is still under warranty, might as well ask JBL for a replacement immediately. Secondly, open the unit and remove the battery(be very careful because this is lithium battery we're talking about). Make your JBL a directly plug and play speaker. I did mine too since i lost my receipt. Hope this helps.
