which creates a backup that includes the repositories. Also, just in case, some of the backups created under /var/opt/gitlab/backups during upgrade processes are not full backups and do not contain repository data. Just in case you are using one of these to restore from.

sms backup and restore not working

My warm standby is somewhat in jeopardy here though - if the repository backups thing works, I can probably automate putting them back into the partially recovered server. Not sure how good that idea is really - may have to think that one over a bit more.

Could be time consuming, but could be a more successful route. The only thing afterwards if it does work, would be to then try a backup from the new server and restore this on yet another server new server and see if the problem remains. If so, then what you can do at this point is look at a different backup strategy.

So, I have managed to recover my system using restic. The backup/snapshot was taken whilst Gitlab was running. This does mean some caveats to getting it running again, but it is doable. Browsing the web interface, I do see my repositories, and I do see the files listed in them, and I can view them.

At this point, I was able to run gitlab-ctl reconfigure and get my Gitlab install sane enough in terms of configuration. Some pid files needed to be removed from the postgresql and gitaly directories because they existed in the backup because of it being online.

After this you will be debugging a few things in terms of permissions, for example, access to git-data, postgresql, redis. I did use the gitlab-rake gitlab:check command to also ensure everything had restored - this also hinted and fixing authorized_keys and one or two other things as well.

Depending on which service is failing to start, you can check the log file output and it will usually be throwing permission errors. I had that for postgres, gitaly, redis and some issues with nginx since I changed the hostname of the server, but not the names of the certificate files.

After further testing with different devices, it appears that the whole backup/restore process can vary from manufacturer and device. I could test the sample app using Google's document approach i.e. by uninstalling and installing using a nexus 7 - just by a coincidence. So, my advice would be not to expect the same behaviour and consistency during your tests.

Now, the Minehut interface does not seem to respond to allow us to restore an old 1.16.5 backup, made before the attempted update, it asks us to confirm, but nothing happens and the latest log does not change.

We can also not set the server version to 1.17 Spigot to continue playing on the new version (despite the poor performance). It just says an unknown error occurred. The log again does not update, still mentioning Paper 1.16.5, even when we have set the server to Spigot 1.17 and attempt to start it.

Further information on this: It appears something may be wrong with our dashboard. Restore from Backup, switching the server type, and even starting the server do not seem to work from the web portal. However, if we log into minecraft and use the lobby /join method, our server will start in Spigot 1.17.

We are still facing an issue with backups not restoring from 1.17 to 1.16.5, even after the discord message about an update being deployed to fix the issue. When the server is forced into hibernation and Restore Backup used, we still get an unknown error message and the backup does not seem to be deployed.

After switching to 1.17, I find that certain plugins that my server depends on are not compatible with the Spigot 1.17 update. I follow the steps in order to restore my server back onto the 1.16.5 Paper version. Upon attempting to restore I get a unknown error message and I have become unable to start my server thereafter.

Another update on this. We tried to restore from backup after the attempted fix. It put us in a state where no server type or version was selected in the dashboard. It would not start by selecting Paper 1.16.5, but it did start from Spigot 1.16.5. We noticed some missing item frames, blocks, and mobs that had been confined. We then force hibernated and switch it to Paper 1.16.5. The server started, but those items were still missing. Then, while we were wondering around, the server crashed. It was due to a loading a new chunk.

That should not be possible because our backup was from before 1.17. It now makes me question if the backup was ever applied at all. We will submit a support request, but I have seen at least 8 people in the community discord now presenting the same issue.

Since the announce that they had a patch I can't even restore my backup from Paper 1.16.5 after selecting the right server version in the Appearance page and hibernation. When I try to restore the backup it says 'Unknown error occurred'. This happened multiple times. I tried all the of my backups and none of them work.

Used the High Availability SSH method to backup an existing, in-use FreePBX server and restore to a new server (full backup/full restore). They are running the same versions of Asterisk, FreePBX, and CentOS, all from the FreePBX distro. Modules up to date on both.

When the system is installed a random password is generated for the CDR database. The install is being done as the root uses so access to change the database is allowed. This password is put into the cdr_mysql.conf file.

When you copy over the config from the primary system to the backup system the cdr-mysql.conf is copied over from the primary system to the backup system. Unfortunately the passwords do not match so you have this problem.

It was my case too. I built a fresh install than decided to put raid so have to reinstall, and when I did backup restore the cdr report showed the old calls no the new ones.
Thank you for this thread that resolve my problem
"*****

Okay, I changed the password in cdr_mysql.conf to match what was in freepbx.conf, then rebooted. "
this resolved the issue.
and I think that should be added to backup restore script like FreerPBXer said

I am trying to restore from a backup and my backups do not show up. they have regularly been making backups every day. they are in the folder it is set to. for some reason though nothing shows up on the bottom for me to select a restore. i lost a good portion of my movie setup and i need to run this backup and i am stuck. this is very frustruating as this has worked before and now it is simply not working at all.

just to test this i installed a BRAND NEW emby server on a seperate machine all together (fresh install) and i moved my backup to this machine and pointed the backup/restore to the parent folder my backup was in and still nothing at all. this is a problem. please get back to me on this. thank you!

what i need to know is how to find out what server version is in the backup i want to use. emby updated after a portion of my library got deleted. i put it all back where it goes and i need the backup from before it got deleted but it was on an older version. i hadnt updated in a month so im not sure exactly what version i can use

so how can i use a previous backup. i have one specifically that i want to use from two days ago. the folder is called "Emby Backup - 2024-03-03 00.10.0 -Auto" the only ones showing up though are ones made later on that night and THOSE for some reason are called "Emby Server Database - 2024-03-03 20.22.46" i do NOT want to use these as they were made after a big deletion took place. i need to be able to use the "emby backup -2024.03.03 00.10.00 -auto"

i understand that. i have the library backed up and put it all back how it was. i need to downgrade my emby to before 4.8 this is not something i can let go of. i worked too hard on it. can you link me the latest version of the version before 4.8 so i can restore then update it back to the newest? i need to be able to restore this backup too many hours of stuff lost for me to let this go

For the past few days I have been unsuccessful in trying to migrate my existing setup (Pi3B+/Raspbee) to new hardware (Pi4/Conbee II). After some research I found some posts indicating that it should work like this:

Fun fact: I just turned off the old Pi3, pulled out the Raspbee board, plugged in the Conbee II, booted again and everything continued working. So it seems I am running into some trouble with restoring the backup. Apparently that step is breaking my network. Any advice on how to debug this?

Backup failure message: The backup folder cannot be created in the requested location. make sure that you have the permissions needed to save the backup to this location. I click ok and the program crashes and must close. ( 0069-rel\2013.3) (I am the administrator and the only user)

Knowledgebase is always my first line of defense - that's where I got the idea to save elsewhere for Windows 7. I haven't tried WinZip as I don't have it and would prefer to keep this computer as clean as possible. There has to be a simple fix here and I'm just not seeing it. I'm pretty sure this is a problem with my firewall/anti-virus. The new computer came with TrendMicro which I have never used before.

4) make sure there are no files that do not belong in the *.saj folder in the live file you are trying to backup. Some clients have backed up a file to the *.saj folder making the backup file larger than normal.
