Ihave a Windows 10 emby server, and 3 android devices (2 android and 1 android TV box) running emby for android being used to watch movies through the emby server. Everything I'm describing is all within a single home and on the same LAN (no remote connections).

We now want to use a new Windows 10 computer as another client, but I cannot find a simple emby TV app for windows??? I see emby Theatre, but i see nothing equivalent to the "emby for Android" app, but for Windows. I HAVE to be missing something ridiculously obvious.

have discovered ther's a window but it's blank and fully transparent so it behaves like the machine is locked, but its not, its in fullscreen mode. if you change te focus you can get to he other windows...

My Emby theater just started doing this. When I click it it opens but I see no window. The first time I tried to open it today the window did appear. It disappeared when I tried to maximize it and I haven't seen it again. I tried to reinstall but I receive errors during installation. The condition is the same after a reboot.

Hi, are you still running into this? What version are you running? Try rebooting and then installing the latest version from the website on top of your existing version. Please see if that helps. Thanks !

Doing a full uninstall with removing all traces does not fix it for me. I *have* to use a different resolution than 3840x2160 on my PC otherwise I get the same problem as the OP. Is there a registry artifact being left behind that 'remembers' the resolution I am using???

So starting around Dec 26 or so, Emby theatre (installed on the same PC as the server) will no longer play any media. The app launches, logs into my library, but when I try to play a file, it opens the splash screen with the media background and the loading wheels spins forever. I have tried a couple uninstall and reinstalls to no success. I can play back media using a web browser. I can also stream to both my android and apple devices, so I think the problem is simply the theater for windows app. As a side note, emby theater would never play music files in the past, but I ignored it. But now the same problem is occurring with video files also.

Oh. And 99% of my music files are FLAC type. If that is of interest. But music will play in browser and on networked devices (ie android/apple) and actually now that I think of it also on a networked PC running Theatre - but not the server PC... Should I try the fix for the windows store app version (seen on another post) to get playback to work on the server PC? That is my only thought...

No problems Luke! Do you have any suggestions how to get music playback to work in Emby theatre on the server PC? It works through browser but not in the emby theatre desktop app. Windows 10. I've tried setting theatre to run as administrator. The only thing I could maybe try is move my music library to another external drive - although this is a bit of a hassle.

Hi sooty234 - I sort of understand what you want me to do but also not really - those links send me to pages I barely comprehend. (sorry!) So does Emby Theater use MPV to playback music? When I search my user/appdata/roaming folder I do see an mpv folder BUT it is completely empty. Should there be something in there? I did a search of my entire c:/ for mpv.conf and no results appeared.

Yes it does. Is there a trick to generating the .conf file? I made a text file, then copied your example into the first line (edited to c:) and then changed the file extension to .conf then I opened emby theatertried to play music and closed emby theatre. Then I went to where I asked the conf file to save a log text file but there was nothing there...

Assuming the mpv.conf is correct and the entries are correct, a log is only generated if playback is attempted. If playback isn't attempted that means the emby server is failing to deliver the address to the player. The player not having access to the file is most likely. As I said earlier, check your permissions and make sure access to the media is possible for the player. For the library config, have you used the optional network folder location? If not, I suggest doing that.

- Created a log folder called 'logs' in "C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\mpv" in my case, then

- Added "log-file="C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\mpv\logs\mpvlogs.txt" to the mpv.conf I just created.

- Tried to play a video to generate a log.

- Playback failed of course but the log was generated and I found these entries in the log.

Thanks @Mobius for the detailed and informative post! I hope it helps someone! But unfortunately I do not have audio pass through checked. At the moment I just don't play music on my server PC (which is also my HTPC). And if I really want to, I know I could play music in browser instead of ET.

The server is running on a terramaster. It was just working fine. I went to the next video and then no sound. Everything works fine in the web app and on everything else. I tested it on my smart tv and cell. Its all working fine, Just not in emby theater.

Thanks for the reply and the help. Here's the picture of the stats of the video I was trying to play. And it doesn't matter what I try to play, Its all the same. No sound at all. I also posted the audio settings of emby.

Well. I found something out. I downloaded the 3.0.19 version. Which when downloaded is just the folder with emby. If I run Emby through there then theres sound. I don't understand it. But maybe it would help solving the problem. Its only when I install emby theater than theres no sound.

I think I found the problem. I have been using a program called FXsound to help boost the sound quality. out of Curiosity, I uninstalled it and reset the sound from the page that you sent me. I then reinstalled Emby Theater and tried it. Everything seems to be working. I don't understand why FXsound would interfere. I've been using that for years. So I will leave it uninstalled for now. Thank you for all your help. Let me know if you have any other Ideas as to why.
