Here are the minutes of the January 26th Student Community Alliance meeting in the quad
-Went over Agenda
-Introductions
New members: Dan, James, Zuli, Adam, Angel, Shilo and Casey
-Michael read his proposed mission statement for the group (I didn't get a chance to write the whole thing down but maybe he can post it on here)
-The mission statement was approved with one amendment which was to add "capitalism" along with "oppression" at the end of the statement
-The points of unity were discussed
-The group thought the points were good but they need more description and more positives (instead of saying what we're "anti" also say what we're "pro"
-March 2nd Day of Action was discussed
-The group decided to orient organizing efforts towards faculty and workers on campus. Rane(me) is going to send emails to a group of selective professors in hope of getting a meeting together with them about March 2nd. Rane is also going to try to set up a meeting with custodians on the DVC campus.
-Status as an ICC club
-The group agreed that Student Community Alliance would function better as an off campus club. The group felt it would allow more freedom in terms of the administration. For events, copies and funds we plan to go through other clubs and professors.
-Discussion of decision making process was tabled until next meeting.
-Meeting time
-The meetings will now be held on Tuesdays in the Quad at 3pm
meeting adjourned!
