Interactors record
elders’ stories |
Students from the
West Orange High School Interact Club in Florida, USA, have been learning about the past from people who lived it. These Interactors spent three
months interviewing residents at a local senior care facility to learn about their lives. After hearing these personal histories, the students
developed a bound volume of 22 life stories, which they shared with the interviewees.
Learn more about the project and read one resident’s story.

Mind over antimatter |
Long before Makoto Fujiwara began
trapping antimatter, he was a shy Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar whose primary concern was passing his classes. In 1992, Fujiwara received
a scholarship from the Rotary Club of Kofu South, Japan, to study physics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Now he studies
antimatter at a research laboratory, and he credits Rotary with opening the doors that led to his success. “I wouldn’t have studied
physics if I hadn’t come to Canada as a scholar,” says Fujiwara, who is also a former Rotaractor. “It was the
start of everything for me.” Read more about Fujiwara’s journey.
