I agree with Diane,
It will be a lot of trouble to pick and choose which dirt we want to move and if the equipment and laborers are not $0.00 it may very well just be cheaper to buy good soil.

DHS/Sugar Creek Gardeners:

We will have a work day this Saturday, February 14th from 9:00-12:00 at Sugar Creek. We will be putting together the beds and preparing them for soil. We need battery operated screw drivers (please let us know if you have one that we can use). I will go by the shed to see if we have screws. If we don't, I will go buy some.

See you Saturday. It will be a great way to start Valentine's Day.

Also, we have a site meeting with In Bloom's owner on Wednesday at noon at
DHS to evaluate the cost of moving dirt and garden infrastructure. If
anyone can attend, great. So far Tamara and I can go. If you have questions
or an idea we should bring up at that meeting, please post. Thanks,
Jan

Let's figure out whether it might be more cost effective to just buy better dirt.
Maybe the city will help us out by lending us a backhoe to load some of the dirt into the truck.
Or, maybe we just pay for it. It now sounds like a ton of work.
In other words...if it costs $500 to move some dirt, how much would it cost to go buy a lot of soil from Lowe's. Tony at Ace might cut us a good deal, too. Farmer D's dirt is good, but pricy, and I think he gives us a discount.
