It was wonderful to have Nitya's presence at the workshop. A very articulate young lady. We discussed some very important issues and it was really nice to see their level of engagement.

Dear Charu, Radha and Usha

Thanks so much for your initiative and courage to talk about these issues. This will definitely  give our girls the support they need if they are ever faced with difficult situations. Nitya said she liked the workshop and found it very useful.

Warm regards
Swarna

Charu, Thanks a lot for organizing this. This is very important for girls to be aware of and know. Poorvaja says she found it very useful and said it was very nice. She said that she learnt things that she could use.
I wish Ahalya could also have joined the girls - maybe next time.

Thanks again.

First of all, we volunteers would like to thank the parents for entrusting us with your precious daughters for a couple of hours. The workshop was truly a lot of fun and energising. We hope the girls enjoyed it too.

We approached it from a philosophy of teaching them a life skill. I hope that resonates with you parents as well. Since all the girls knew each other well, they seemed very comfortable with the entire discussion.

Would love to hear feedback so we can continue to refine the content.

If any of you have questions about the workshop, please feel free to reach out to any of us.

Thanks,
Dhrithi Volunteers

Dear Parents,

As parents, we want our daughters to be independent and seek new opportunities to learn so they can realize their full potential.  But we worry about whether we have "taught" them adequate survival skills to face the world.  Being able to defend oneself physically is one such skill that we believe, every girl should learn.  With this in mind, we have designed a workshop for15-17 year olds.  The objective is to help them recognize threat, avoid it and defend themselves, should the situation arise.

The workshop will teach a mix of physical moves and assertiveness exercises. We will discuss and visualize difficult situations and help prepare them with responses, build awareness of body language and sensitize them to cues from the external world.  The intent is to give them a physical and mental tool box to take with them wherever they go so they are safe.

The workshop is scheduled for Sunday, 14th September, 2 pm and will be 2 hours long.  The venue for the workshop is Villa 18, Hillridge Villas. If you would like to be present at the workshop, you are very welcome.

Please confirm your daughter's participation in this workshop.

Thanks,
Charu

PS: Sharanya - please forward this to Payal Nagpal.
