My arguments for
meetup.com:
1) A search on
meetup.com for active users within 10 miles of Appleton
yields 7662 people
2) Chris Wilson of MadLUG attests that
meetup.com has effectively gotten
the word out for MadLUG. I have met Chris and I trust his judgement.
3) Meetup is arguably more well-known than eventbrite
4) To date our ability to draw new people has been largely luck, why not
increase our chances (see points 1-3)
5) The price is within our current account holdings.
Also, the idea of obtaining a community workshop involves making money
in the form of membership dues. DHMN is different from NEWLUG in that
regard and may be able to net more memberships by spending some money.
