Hello,

I was talking to a friend who is the plant manager of a local manufacturer and he asked if the MakerSpace would be interesting in a plasma cutter.  It is almost new, rarely used and in working condition.  Basically they have too many plasma cutters and this on has just been sitting around taking up shop space.  It does require 220.  I told him I would bring it up with the group and that since we are now a 501c3 we could give them a tax deduction for it.

Thoughts?

If we want it, I can ask what the estimated value of it is so we can get them the receipt for tax purposes, and I can pick it up.

I think this would be a great addition to the tools at the space!

I will personally make sure there is an appropriate 220 volt supply installed in an appropriate location for use (such as by the bay door, against the exterior wall)  We need this for other tools like the TIG welder right now anyway.

I know that there is often resistance to accepting new things into the space.  But according to our "Rules of Acquisition" (which may go by a different official name), we are always interested in useful equipment that is in good working condition, and doesn't require a lot of floor space.  This qualifies.

Would you need anything else from us to facilitate this?

I'll find out what the estimated value of the plasma cutter is so we can give them a reciept for the tax write off.  Once we have that we should be good to go.  I'll even pick it up and bring it to the space.
