How much was the projector?  It sounds like that smart board thing is really interesting, as well.

Is this a one time thing, or are they planning on making this a yearly event?

Not bad at all!  Too bad my job is in Shawano, or I'd head over now!

I had a feeling that some DHMN members would be able to take advantage of this sale, which is why I posted the sale to the list.  I'm just glad someone was able to take advantage of the sale.

I dropped by to check it out.  There are still a bunch of identical 15" square Dell LCD monitors and overhead transparency projectors, but I think Jamie got most of the interesting stuff (can I talk you out of that DLP projector?).

It's mostly office chairs, metal shelves, push carts, and diesel engine repair tools now.  I saw a couple of wheelchair-assist tracked vehicles that could be a lot of fun to re-purpose, but I can't pay $3000 for them...

Oh, I forgot to mention - I saw some huge (lecture room size) whiteboards for $25, too bad we don't have a space yet.

Well I looked up what I was told was a smart board and it is a calcomp drawingboard II CAD digitalizer.   The reason that I bought it was for the stand.   I will donate the tabletop digitalizer to DHMN if anyone is interested (now or when we have a facility) .   It is quite large (5' x 5') and I do not have a power supply,  cords or accesories.

Linux support:

This seems really cool, but I can't think of an immediate use for it.  I'd be interested to hear brainstorming about it.

Looks like it needs a stylus/pen/mouse with a ps/2 connection.  Found one on eBay for $99.  Any ideas on where to find it cheaper or does anyone have any idea how they work or if we could make one?  There is a serial connecter pen for $32; can that be converted?

The original purpose of these digitizers was to input large drawings into CAD.  What if you went the other way?

You could build a pretty cool turtle/drawbot that makes large format posters.  If you lay the surface down flat (since you want to use the mount for something else), you could have a large place for a robot to crawl around on with high resolution position information.  I think I have a few omni-directional wheels around here I could donate to the cause.

If anyone makes it to the sale today or tomorrow could you look in the bins on table marked everything $1 near the check out to see if there are any digitalizer pens or mice with a ps/2 connection.  Also female/female ps/2 or female ps/2 to serial for computer connection There were alot of peripherals and cords in those bins and since I did not know what I was buying I did not look for them.  I would be happy to pay you back if you pick them up.

Thanks

If you are going.... Hurry, since they close at 3PM today and they're only open from 7AM to noon tomorrow.

I looked through that box briefly this morning.  I would have noticed the type of mouse that goes with the tablet - they have a coil of wire around a plastic crosshair.

I'm going to head over tomorrow morning, though I imagine things will
be pretty picked over. Was anyone there later in the day?
