It is the time of year that The Digital Orientalist (ISSN: 2772-8374) begins looking for new team members.
As we continue to expand and diversify the areas we cover, we would be particularly excited to receive applications for new editors and contributors for the next academic year (2023-2024) from the following (or related) fields:
- African Studies.
- Central Asian Studies.
- Indian Studies.
- Islamic Studies.
- Chinese Studies.
- Japanese Studies.
- Korean Studies.
- South Asian Studies.
- Oceania or Pacific Island Studies.
- DH theories and practices in general
We also welcome applications from candidates from other fields.
Positions on The Digital Orientalist’s team will be particularly attractive to graduate students and early career researchers, but are also open to senior academics.
How much would you contribute?Editors will be expected to contribute 5-6 posts and contributors 3-4 posts between September 2023 and May 2024.

Join our social media team!We are also seeking candidates for the position of Social Media Manager, who would be running our Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as developing The Digital Orientalist’s online presence (LinkedIn and IG). As we try to expand our online presence, we welcome candidacies with a specific focus (e.g., are you great at Twitter but unfamiliar with Facebook? That’s fine! Tell us in the application form, and we will take it from there).
