16 KALAS PRESENT IN EVERY ELEMENT OF JAGAT / PHENOMENAL WORLD – ANIMAL, VEGETABLE, OR MINERAL
(by Sri Shivashankar Rao).
1. Rocks, minerals and other inert matter have the lowest Chaitanya Shakti of 1 kala.
2. Plants are the next evolution of Chaitanya-Shakti with 2 kalas.
3. Animals have 3 or 4 kalas.
Average human beings have 5 kalas. Human beings with higher spiritual capacities have 6 kalas. Saints have 7 kalas. The most advanced saints and sages have 8 kalas. It is not possible for an ordinary human being to go beyond 8 kalas. A normal human body cannot sustain more than 8 kalas.
3Beyond that starts the incarnations (avataras) with special sattva bodies. Varaha Avatara of Vishnu had special sattva body with 11 kalas.
Sri Ramachandra incarnated with 14 kalas.
Lord Ram had first 14 kalas but the last two were kept hidden viz. Paripurna & Swarupavasthitha. Here Paripurna means complete knowledge of all forms of awakening and Swarupavasthitha - Posthumous + avasthitha = established in his real true self. This is because of a boon to Ravana. He was promised that no god would kill him. So Lord Ram intentionally hid his 2 kalas and behaved like a common man (to fulfil the boon that Ravana would be killed by a man). This answers why he cried for his wife and the reason for taking help from monkeys.
Lord Ram is Maryada Purusha. He descended on earth to teach people duties of a religious person as a king, a husband, a son, a brother etc. and to establish Dharma Rajya / Rama Rajya (an ethical and responsive respected government.
Lord Krishna's mission was much more diverse than Sri Rama. It was multi-faceted. He descended to teach practically everything under the sun, from yuga dharma to highest flights of vedanta and yoga. This could be witnessed from his activities - he was a philosopher, yogi, renunciate, lover, warrior, diplomat, king-maker etc. It is impossible for sone person to possess all these qualities, and that too in totality. Therefore, Krishna wasn't only Uttama but while descending, he came with all his opulences.
Hence Sri Krishna is Uttama Purusha. He is universally considered to have all 16 kalas and the only Sampoorna (Complete) Avatara.
