Today is the auspicious Vijaya Dashami , the 10 th day of victory of Devi Durga over Mahishasura and the day Sri Rama vanquished Ravana.
Today is a day of victory.
Victory of Dharma over Adharma.
Victory of Vidya over Avidya.
Victory of sattva, knowledge over forces of rajas (binding desire /restlessness) and tamas (confusion inertia)
It is a day of victory of decisive action over inaction and procrastination.
It is a day of victory of clear thinking over confusion, vagueness and doubt.
At the same time Victory is not a one time event.
It is a commitment to aligning to the cosmic order of Dharma that makes you want to do the right thing every day.
Why? Dharma makes you happy.
Due to the victory of the Devas, Vijaya Dashami carries special potency and hence is the perfect time for shubharambha - auspicious beginnings.
If Devi Durga could help all the Devas who sought her protection from the asuras, will she not help you?
After the 9 days of sadhana of being blessed and fortified by Devi’s blessings, you look forward to building your life with happiness and purpose.
Traditionally we spend a few minutes to begin a new practice or restart an existing practice with renewed hope and vigour in all domains of life – health, work, relationships, finances, Vedanta.
We open our books.
We practice our sadhana.
We read and listen to the Shaastra.
May you perform your Dharma in all roles with renewed vigor
May you undertake the study of Vedanta and other knowledge domains with a renewed commitment.
May you embark on new projects with clarity and dedication.
On this sacred Vijaya Dashami, prayers, best wishes and blessings for all Shubha aarambah, auspicious new beginnings.
May this Dashami mark not just an auspicious beginning in time, but the recognition of your unchanging, timeless Self.
