Dear Venerables and Dhamma friends,
We're delighted to announce Ven Bhikkhu Sujato's SF Bay Area visit this October shortly after our Dhammadharini Kathina Oct 19th. Schedule below - save the dates.
Bhante Sujato is the founder of Sutta Central, has been an outstanding advocate for Theravada Bhikkhuni ordination, and was a very important part of the Oct 22, 2009 First Theravada Bhikkhuni Ordination in Perth Australia, in which Dhammadharini founding abbess Ayya Tathaloka served as preceptor. In part, in honor of the 10-year anniversary of that ordination, Bhante will be making a teaching visit to Northern California.
Bhante is the former abbot of Santi Forest Monastery in Australia's Southern Highlands (which he first made a dual Sangha monastery and then turned over to be a Bhikkhuni monastery) and is currently resident at The Monastery at the End of the World --Lokanta Vihara-- in Sydney, his base for his Sutta Central work and Dhamma teaching related to Climate Emergency. Bhante is the author of numerous books and is a wonderful Dhamma and meditation teacher.

Dear Dhamma friends,
we had a wonderful Kathina Day on Saturday, many thanks to our Kathina donors Sameera and Achala and all friends and families, and all our venerable Bhikkhuni Sangha (photos coming soon).
Tomorrow we will be welcoming Bhante Sujato to our monastery as special guest speaker to our regular Tuesday night Dhamma and meditation program at our monastery (note extended time: 7-9pm, OK to leave early if you need to). All friends and supporters of our bhikkhunis' community are welcome. It's a special day - tomorrow is the ten-year anniversary day of the first bhikkhuni ordinations in Perth Australia with Ayya Tathaloka and Ajahn Brahm, in which Bhante Sujato played a very important role - so glad to have him with us on this special occasion. It's also the 10th anniversary of Ayya Tathaloka's being appointed as a bhikkhuni preceptor - the first western female Buddhist monastic in contemporary times to be so appointed.
Note, for Bhante's teaching at Dharma College in Berkeley on Wednesday night: the organizers have opened registration. Please register here if you haven't already done so.
On Sunday, half our community will participate with our venerable bhikkhuni sisters of Aloka Vihara Forest Monastery's Kathina & Ten-year Anniversary in Placerville, and half will participate in the American Buddhist Seminary (ABS) Temple's Kathina in Sacramento, where Bhante Sujato will be speaking.
We look forward to seeing you at the monastery and/or seeing you for these special teachings throughout this coming week.
