Honoring Ayya Khemā's Legacy
on her 100th Birth Anniversary

Ayya Khemā in the Bavarian Alps with her stupa, Peace rose in hand, is the e-version of a special commemorative painting in progress, envisioned by Ayya Tathālokā and designed by Sāmanerī Thāvirā, being painted by Zen nun artist Kosan Carla Callahan
The late, intrepid, international Dhamma & Meditation teacher, the most venerable Ayya Khemā, who ordained in the first wave of the revival as a Bhikkhuni in 1988 with 200 others in California, after becoming a successful Buddhist teacher and co-founding Sakyadhita International Association of Buddhist Women and Sakyadhita USA, was an extraordinary inspiration to many around the world, in her adopted countries of the USA, Sri Lanka and Australia, and in her home country of Germany.
August 25th is the 100th anniversary of her birth, and Dhammadharini plans to host a program on the 27th, with Ayya Tathālokā, the Dhammadharini Bhikkhunī Sangha, Venerables & Dhamma friends, to remember, explore, and honor her legacy.
This commemorative event will be offered on Sunday August 27th, 7-9pm Pacific Daylight Time (California time) via Zoom, with livestream to Dhammadharini Monastery's YouTube and Dhammadharini on Facebook Live. See below for more time zones, or check your own time zone. Note: if you live in Europe, South or Southeast Asia or Australasia, the program will be on the 28th.

Practicing with Ayya Khema’s Teachings
During the Dhammadharini Winter Retreat in 2021, our community practiced for three months with Ayya Khema’s teachings. We welcome you to look back at the teachings from that time - both Ayya Khema’s recorded teachings, which we were working with, as well as the online teachings offered during that time by Ven. Tathaloka, with one special guest appearance by Leigh Brasington.
This document shows the schedule of talks which the Dhammadharini community listened to, and provides links so all who would like to can stream or download the audio.
The recorded online teachings may be found here: Winter Retreat Uposatha Program 2021 Playlist
Wishing all beings peace and happiness,
