Congratulations to Four New Bhikkhunis at Dhammasara Monastery in Australia!

[Dhammadharini Sangha]

Dear friends of our Sangha,

We would like to share our great heart of joy and warm congratulations with new bhikkhunis Ven Karunika, Ven Upekkha, Ven Gotami and Ven Chanda, all of whom were fully ordained 2 days ago in Western Australia outside Perth.  

The first part of their ordination with the Bhikkhuni Sangha was at Dhammasara "Heartwood of the Dhamma" Monastery in the early afternoon.  A sima was established earlier by the Bhikkhuni Sangha on the concrete pad that has been laid for the new monastery sala.  The ordination was then confirmed and completed by the Bhikkhu Sangha in the early evening at Bodhinyana Monastery. This was the first bhikkhuni ordination in the new sima at Dhammasara, the second at Dhammasara Monastery, and the third at Bodhinyana. Ven. Ayya Santini Theri from Indonesia served as the Bhikkhuni Preceptor for the ordination.  Ven. Ajahn Brahmavamso Mahathero (Ajahn Brahm) served as the leader of the Bhikkhu Sangha.

(Ajahn Brahm said they also had an bhikkhu ordination at Bodhinyana just after they first laid the concrete pad in their Sala, before the hall was built.)

Brand new bhikkhuni Ven Karunika (r) (together with fellow new bhikkhuni Ven Upekkha (l)) emerged from their ordination to a great rainbow spanning the land :)
