Greetings dear Venerable monastics and Dhamma friends -

The Dhammadharini Bhikkhuni community looks forward to having you join us TOMORROW Saturday December 3rd for our celebration of Ven. Tathālokā Mahātherī’s 25th Bhikkhuni Upasampada Anniversary.

If you haven’t already done so, you may sign up to attend in person or online by registering on our website

For those joining in person for the meal and early afternoon...

The in-person gathering will be held at Dhammadharini Monastery in Penngrove, for the meal and in the early afternoon.

The event will be held in our Dana Sala. We’re making preparations to keep everyone as warm as possible (rain screens, patio heaters, hot drinks, hot water bottles! - we have them prepared) please dress for going on holiday to the Arctic!! 🤗 This is a BYOB event -> Bring Your Own Blanket (+ hat, gloves, sweater, warm socks...) Dhammadharini remains committed to providing a COVID-safe environment for our monastic and lay community and friends. We ask everyone’s loving-kindness, generosity of heart, mindfulness and care in providing a safe space for those who are medically vulnerable, and ask everyone attending to behave as if visiting a vulnerable family member. We ask all friends to wear masks and maintain social distance from those not in your family "pod." Thank you very much for your mettā and abhaya-dana in offering this gift of loving kindness and safety to one another. ((Note: with the donations recently offered at our 2022 Kathina for the monastery HVAC project, we hope to be able to undertake renovations in 2023 to be able to offer as-safe-as-possible indoor spaces at our monastery. The monastery main building does not currently have any in-built heating or ventilation system--this project hopes to offer one. This project was planned before Covid, and has become all the more important meanwhile. Big thanks to the donors and the team of volunteer friends working on design now, hoping to apply for permits during our upcoming winter retreat, on behalf of all of us.))

Arrival You are welcome to park mindfully in the monastery neighborhood - there is abundant street parking. The speed limit is 15 mph. No parking within 50 feet of a stop sign, or in front of a neighbor's driveway. Welcome to pull in front of the monastery entrance to briefly drop off food and passengers, but please don't park there. We look forward to seeing you there!

Here is the planned schedule for the day:

  • 10:15am Arrival and setup for meal Dana offering

  • 10:45am Meal dana offering to the Bhikkhus and the Bhikkhuni Sangha; feast for all

  • 1:30 - 3:30pm In-person Muditā gathering to commemorate Ayya Tathālokā's anniversary, in the Dhammadharini Monastery Dana Sala

In addition to the Dhammadharini community, we plan to be joined by Loung Por Pasanno and another monk and Anagarika from our brother monastery to the north, Abhayagiri; Ayya Niyyanika will also be coming across from Aloka Vihara, and many of our Dhamma friends. The afternoon in-person event is personal and will not be broadcast online.
