During this 2024 Vassa season, also known as the rainy
season
retreat, from July 22nd to October 17th, Dhammadharini is offering a
series of Dhamma teachings and meditation retreats under the theme: Practicing for Peace in a World on Fire. We invite you to join in these teachings, already in full swing!
These sessions will be led by Ven Sobhana Theri, the Dhammadharini Bhikkhuni Sangha, and guest Bhikkhuni teachers who will guide us in deepening our practice and understanding of the Dhamma amidst the challenges of our contemporary world. There will be more occasions for in-person participation at the Dhammadharini Monastery, as well as Zoom participation for friends around the world.
We are also excited to invite you to celebrate International Bhikkhuni Day, honoring the founding of the Bhikkhuni Sangha.
How to Register: You can find more details, and register to receive more information on the upcoming events, here on our website. You can also easily view all of the events on our public calendar.
We encourage you to join us for these enriching sessions to cultivate inner peace, wisdom, and compassion in turbulent times. Your presence will benefit your practice and support the Sangha and the larger Dhamma community.
Here are some ways you can participate with the Dhammadharini community in-person during this Vassa, in addition to the online teachings:
For the Sunday half-day retreats as well as the weekly Sunday programs, you can join us in person for the entire day, including the mid-day meal, or participate in any part of the day.
Apart from the formal Dhamma Programs, you are welcome to visit and speak with Ayya Sobhana from Wednesday to Saturday every week. If you would like to offer food for the monastics, please come between 10 and 11 a.m. or after the main meal between 1 and 2 p.m. Kindly email or text to confirm our availability.
For the Tuesday alms round, you can offer food at 10 am at Petaluma Trader Joe's or at 10:45 am at Petaluma Eastside Farmers Market.
Dhammadharini would collaborate with any willing volunteers to organize a special Dhamma and Service program at the Dhammadharini Monastery. This can be set for any Saturday when no other Dhamma program is scheduled. The current top service project is adding a fresh coat of deck stain to the outdoor Dana Sala pavilion and repairing sections of the fence.
May you be well and happy.
With Metta,
the Dhammadharini Community
