In Theravada Buddhism, Vesak celebrates the birth, great awakening, and final passing of the Buddha.
Venerable Bhikkhuni Sakya Hanhtri welcomes all to join in the Vesaka celebrations at the Peace Pagoda in Fremont's historic Niles District.
The Peace Pagoda's Vesak Celebration will be held on Sunday, May 19th. The celebration will be in part Vietnamese Buddhist style. Ven. Ayya Sudhamma Theri will offer the Vesaka Dhamma Desana (Dhamma Talk) after the lunch dana offering. Vens. Ayya Tathaaloka Theri and Ayya Sobhana Bhikkhuni will also be together in attendance. All friends are welcome to join in.

9:30 AM = Arrive
10:00 AM = Begin Vesak Ceremony
= 5-fold-Offering
= Introductions (Vietnamese/English)
= Opening
= Chanting in Vietnamese/Pali/English
= Bathing the infant Buddha statue
= Prayers for devas (in Vietnamese)
12:00 noon = Sanghadana (offering of vegetarian meal to bhikkhunis)
12:10 PM = Vegan buffet for all
12:30 PM = Buddhist songs = Live Buddhist Music by Nigrodha
1:00 PM = Vesaka Dhamma Talk=Dhamma Desana
1:30 PM = Conclude
