Dear Friend,
I would like to share with you the exciting events that are going on this week.  Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi left on Dec. 6th to participate in the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.  He was accompanied by BGR Adviser Andrew Harvey – Founder of the Institute for Sacred Activism, and Dena Merriam – Chairperson of the Global Peace Initiative for Women.  Also attending are Ven. Guo Chan and Ven. Chang Ji representing the Dharma Drum Meditation Center.
Representatives of 182 nations are in Copenhagen struggling once again with the crisis of climate change.  As they debate and discuss, the world’s faith leaders will be on hand to remind them that every religious tradition commands us to be stewards of the earth.  Odyssey Networks is there capturing faith in action at this critical moment in human history.
The historic United Nations Climate Change Conference opened at the Bella Center in Copenhagen on Dec 7th.  The world’s faith leaders gathered in the Danish capital to advocate for decisive action on carbon emissions.  While political leaders converge at The Bella Center to debate policy, citizens from around the world are meeting nearby at Klimaforum ’09 to share their ideas for solutions to the growing climate crisis.
The role of religions and people of faith at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (COP-15) is extremely critical.  Below are links to daily video highlights of the world’s faith groups in action at this crucial climate summit.
  • On Day 1: Faith at the Summit – Arrival, Mark Dowd, producer of Odyssey Networks’ “Faith at the Summit,” examines the spiritual crisis that underlies the crisis of climate change in a conversation with Reverend Dr. Joan Brown Campbell (Chautauqua Institution), Reverend Richard Cizik (New Evangelicals), and Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi (Buddhist Global Relief).  For exclusive coverage, please click here for the video.
  • On Day 2: Faith at the Summit – Advice for Obama, Mark Dowd asks faith leaders – Benedictine Sister Joan Chittister, Rabbi Michael Kagan (Jewish Climate Initiative), and Sraddhalu Ranade (Sri Ashram Aurobindo) the question: “If you had 30 seconds face-to-face with President Obama, what would you say about climate change?”  Just click here to view their messages to the President.
  • On Day 3: At the Klimaforum, Mark Dowd of Odyssey Networks talks with faith leaders about using “sacred action” to achieve climate justice.  Join him in a conversation with Andrew Harvey (spiritual teacher and author), Benedictine Sister Joan Chittister, and Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi (Buddhist Global Relief).  For footage of faith in action, please view the video here.
  • On Day 4: “Faith at the Summit” will be at the political heart of COP-15 – The Bella Center.  Please visit http://www.odysseynetworks.org/
We hope you enjoy this exclusive coverage of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen brought to you by Odyssey Networks, and we thank you for supporting the cause of climate justice.
