Overview:
The Security Application Manager is responsible for overseeing application
projects with a strong focus on security, compliance, and cross-functional team
coordination. This role ensures successful execution of initiatives by aligning
technical deliverables with business objectives, managing vendor relationships,
and optimizing resources. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in secure
application development, project oversight, and adherence to state agency
security requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinate cross-functional teams and work streams to ensure alignment, communication, and timely delivery.
· Manage project execution across the application lifecycle, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, and risk mitigation.
· Allocate resources effectively across work streams, ensuring balanced workloads and priority alignment.
· Provide performance monitoring, progress reporting, and actionable feedback to leadership and stakeholders.
· Oversee vendor relationships to ensure contractual and security compliance.
· Collaborate with enterprise security teams to ensure secure design and deployment of applications across environments (cloud, hybrid, on-prem).
· Guide teams in implementing secure CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code security best practices.
· Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal security standards (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, CJIS).
· Identify risks, lead threat modeling sessions, and ensure mitigation strategies are integrated into project plans.
· Continuously improve project delivery processes, integrating security best practices and optimizing operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
· 10+ years of experience in application/project management and cross-functional coordination.
· Proven leadership in managing multiple teams and work streams in parallel.
· Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including identity management, encryption, and cloud security.
· 5+ years experience with secure CI/CD processes and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, GitOps).
· Experience with security tools, vulnerability management, container security, and SIEM platforms (highly desired).
· Demonstrated ability to work within government environments and adhere to state IT security policies and regulatory frameworks.
· Strong vendor management experience including performance tracking and contract compliance.
· Expertise in project management methodologies and tools.
· Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
