Job Summary

We are seeking an AWS DevOps Engineer with a strong background in both software development and production incident support. This role is unique as it requires a "development-first" mindset to build and optimize infrastructure while providing 24x7 critical support to mitigate system failures. You will work across development and production environments, utilizing Python for automation and managing cloud-native services. The ideal candidate will have experience navigating complex enterprise environments, specifically within the financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

• AWS Core Services: Architect and manage scalable environments using EC2, S3, and CloudTrail.
• Data Engineering Support: Support big data workflows utilizing AWS Glue for ETL processes.
• Configuration as Code: Expertly manage system configurations and data exchange using YAML and JSON.
• Scripting: Utilize Python (Mandatory) to automate manual tasks, build deployment pipelines, and create custom monitoring scripts.

24x7 Incident Support & Troubleshooting

• On-Call Excellence: Act as a primary point of contact in a 24x7 incident support capacity, ensuring high system availability.
• Mitigation & Recovery: Rapidly troubleshoot and resolve production issues to mitigate business impact.
• Observability: Leverage tools like New Relic for system monitoring or Snowflake for data platform support.

Hybrid Dev/Ops Mindset

• Full Lifecycle Focus: Balance traditional DevOps tasks (CI/CD, infrastructure) with active development contributions.
• Production Stability: Work closely with engineering teams to bridge the gap between development agility and production-based stability.

Mandatory Technical Requirements

1. Cloud Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Glue).
2. Programming: High proficiency in Python is a must; knowledge of Scala or Java is a plus.
3. Support Background: Proven experience in a 24x7 high-pressure incident response environment.
4. Data Formats: Mastery of YAML and JSON for infrastructure and configuration management.
5. Ex-Capital One: Previous experience within Capital One's technical ecosystem is a major advantage.
