GCP Data Architect

  • Job Title: GCP Data Architect
  • Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid – 2/3 days office per week)

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in data engineering or architecture, with at least 4–5 years focused on GCP-native environments
  • Deep knowledge of BigQuery, Cloud Data Fusion / Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and shell scripting
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Cloud Composer / Apache Airflow) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
  • Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and data mesh/data fabric concepts
  • Experience leading migration of on-premises or legacy data warehouses (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, Informatica) to GCP-native architectures
  • Proven ability to implement data security frameworks, data masking, and metadata management

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced GCP Data Architect to lead the design, modernization, and governance of our enterprise data platforms. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate complex data needs into robust, scalable, and cloud-native solutions.

Technical Core & Responsibilities

Platform Architecture

  • Design and implement end-to-end data solutions, including modern data lakes, data warehouses, and batch/streaming data pipelines
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and cost-optimization measures across the GCP ecosystem

Cloud Modernization

  • Lead migration of on-premises or legacy data warehouses (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, Informatica) to GCP-native architectures

Data Governance & Security

  • Implement strict data security frameworks, data masking, and metadata management strategies to ensure compliance and privacy
  • Apply Dataplex for unified data governance (preferred)

Collaboration

  • Partner with data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to optimize analytical workloads and support AI/ML initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer or Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect
  • Familiarity with migrating legacy databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata) to the cloud
  • Practical experience using Dataplex
