Application of Systems of Second Order Di erential
Equations in Characterization of Totally Geodesic
Foliations

Abstract:
In this talk, we introduce the geometric theory of a dynamical system
described by a system of second order di erential equations, as the
geometry
one can derive from a special vector eld that exists on the tangent
bundle
of a manifold. These globally de ned vector elds are known as
semisprays.
Indeed, we have applied the metric associated to a system of second
order
di erential equations in order to determine a nonlinear connection
which is
compatible with this metric. We have induced SODE structure on the
leaves
of a foliation of a base manifold by this nonlinear connection.
Particularly,
we have found a new characterization of totally geodesic foliations.



These seminars are part of a series of weekly seminars with a title of
"Asre hendese" which are held at the mathematics department of IUST.
I
would like to remind you that we cover wide range of

origin of differential equations, application of computer algebra,
dynamical systems, Mathematical physics and so on and of course these
