Summer Meetings

Hi, all!!

We had such fun at last night's Plano Book Club meeting and knocked out the schedule for the rest of the summer. Please note the dates, some are not our usual times. I've sent out the author invites but haven't assigned them to the months pending confirmation, however, the authors we're inviting for summer meetings (in person as well) are:

        Candy Havens (new book out June 2007)
        Shanna Swendson (new book out May 2007 -- next WEEK!!)
        Jenna Mills (mini series from Silhouette Suspense line)
        Linda Conrad (mini series from Silhouette Suspense line)
        Susan Wiggs (new book in late July/August)

Our big summer event will be the Dessert Reception with authors on July 14th! Confirmed guests will follow in a future email along with a flyer or brochure to distribute to local libraries, book stores, reader venues. We're also asking for items to be raffled at the event to help defray the cost of the authors -- they're our guests.

Summer meetings are:

• Tea on May 12th in Las Colinas (Mindy's house) - a combination tea with hostess party (you don't have to buy anything, we do ask for a $15 donation to go towards the cost of the tea for Mindy -- she does a FABULOUS job!)
• Book Club Dinner on May 23rd -- theme backyard cookout
• Tea on June 9th - Grand Lux Cafe
• Book Club Dinner on June 20th, theme New York "deli"
• RWA Book Signing on Wednesday, July 11th from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Hyatt Regency-Reunion followed by pizza or something else. If Fresh Fiction gets a big enough room we'll crash there and invite authors to drop by, otherwise we'll find a close restaurant/meeting place. Budget for the purchase of books at the Literacy signing, only FOUR books are allowed in from your home stash and they'll have "recent" books available for purchase, all proceeds to literacy programs.
• Tea on July 14th -- at the Dallas Hyatt Regency- Reunion ($35 each and we're looking for more guests and possible raffle donations to help defray the cost of the authors attending. There are 75 spots open for readers and a fabulous chance to meet  "famous" authors up-close-and-personal!)
• Book Club Dinner on July 18th -- theme Harry Potter foods
• Tea on August 11th  - Grand Lux Cafe
• Book Club Dinner on August 23rd -- summer salads
