Dr. Dimeff and I are again in charge of providing on-site medical coverage for the Rock 'n' Roll Dallas Half Marathon this year.  Those of you that helped out last year are aware of the value of this experience, as we cared for many patients ranging from mild issues (muscle cramps, blisters) to true medical emergencies (25+ cases of exertional heat stroke with core temperatures >105 F).  While we succesfully treated hundreds of runners last year, we were certainly lacking in manpower and are recruiting volunteers for this year.  The event is held on Sunday morning, March 24th.  The time commitment is about 6 hours on the day of the race, and 1-2 hours for a medical staff orientation meeting prior to the race.  All levels of training (physician, physical therapist, athletic trainer, EMT, med student, resident, fellow, faculty, mid-level provider, nurses, lab tech, pharmacist, spouse, etc) are welcome and needed.  If someone shows up, we will find a job that fits their background and ability.  Please email me if you are interested, and forward this email on to anyone else that may be interested.  Last year was a lot of fun, and we hope for an even better year this time around!
